Unfortunately, it seems that you must have an EFC of $0:
"First funding preference will be given to qualified applicants with the greatest financial need (those who have an expected family contribution [EFC] of zero) and are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited undergraduate nursing program as full-time students. Because of the competitive nature of the NSP, scholarship awards since the inception of the program in 2003 have not gone beyond this funding preference. Therefore, please do not submit the BCRSIS banking information and supporting documents unless you meet the funding preference referenced above. In the unlikely event that the program would reach a lower funding preference, lower preference applicants will be given an opportunity to submit the BCRSIS banking information and other required documentation at a later date."

Yes, this is the same info. I read. I just think it is odd that I had an EFC of $3,000. This was based on unemployment from last year. What about this year? You know? I have been a student this past year working on pre reqs and I have paid for all of them with my own money which has been around $1500-$1700. This year, the school year in question, I have no income to speak of. I guess I am just confused. No worries. I plan to apply for it next year once I have had no income at all. Not sure how unemployment is considered a reliable source of income, since it is a temporary solution to an obvious problem i.e joblessness. I guess there are people out there who need this more than I do. I think it is an amazing opportunity and I will definitely look for more options. I too have relatives who fought in the Revolutionary War and Civil War...Where are these scholarships? Cool!!

Here's a link to you should check out. It's the Daughters of the American Revolution website. They have multiple scholarship opportunities, some deadlines have passed, but there are some with later due dates..

I'll try to find the civil war page later....hope this helps for now. Or, you might be able to find it through google...

Yeah..I got the email saying we could apply...which I did..but I know there is NO WAY I'm getting the scholarship unless Jesus Himself makes it possible. My EFC is 11744..so I'm not first priority. But, it was fun filling out the application...lol

I am checking out other scholarship websites as well.

I was excited about the possibility of going to a new place to work. You know? It just seemed exciting. I guess I could do that regardless. Good luck with your scholarship hunt!

It's not a nursing program..it's a scholarship for those entering or already enrolled in nursing school. What nursing school/program you do is your choice. You just have to work at a facility that has a critical need for nurses after you graduate.
