How much are you spending on books this semester?

They posted the fall books this week at my school. It's such a depressing thing. I'm taking four classes one of which is PE and so far doesn't require any books. Of coorifice if I was to buy all the books new from the school (most only come as new) it would cost me $440 :uhoh3: THANKFULLY I've been able to knock about $95 off that so far through half.com and amazon. I still have a few more books to get, but have to head off to the college book store since the ISBNs that they list aren't coming up on searches on amazon... Doubt I'll buy them from the bookstore though unless I absolutely can't find them cheaper.

Why does this part of school have to be so stressful?

So what is everyone else paying this semester?

I'm only taking two classes:

Psych 101 - $95 text, new from the bookstore

Microbiology - $225 text, new from the bookstore

I've tried to find these used but as both are new editions its proving hard :(

I spent about $600, but I did a lot of shopping around, getting the best price possible. I had to buy 20 books for Nursing I (and they will be used in all 4 semesters of my nursing school).

Oh, how I wish I was still pre-nursing. Be happy its only $400 or whatever. My first semester of nursing school (starting this August) requires 20 textbooks that is going to be about $1050. And that's just for one semester.

I just emailed the professor for my upcoming A&P class asking her if we really needed the textbooks listed at the school bookstore. Her reply made me feel like an idiot for asking :scrying: . I just took a summer course where everyone in the class had bought the textbook and the professor didn't even use the book at all, that was a waste of $55. So I figured I'd ask my A&P for sure what we need. The textbook and lab book are $280. Ouch. I can find the lab book cheaper, but it doesn't seem to come with the additional cd that the bookstore sells with it. Not sure what to do. I guess keep browsing the internet till I find a deal!

You guys make mine sound great. They haven't put up the list yet, but told me it would be around $200, but I'm only p/t this sem., so it'll go up from here I'm sure.

I don't know how it will be once I get into the program but 90% of my books thus far I've been able to rent through the college bookstore, the fees are included in our tuition.

$18.70. I totally lucked out!

Had been stalking half.com for a few weeks where the lowest price for a used Chem book was just under $50. Bookstore wanted $93 for used, $125 for new. So when I saw a book on half.com for $15 + shipping, I grabbed it. Whoever listed it for that price didn't know what they were doing, that's for sure. Oh well, their loss is my gain. :)

That is soooo nice. The first university I attended had that set-up. Boy was I in for a rude awakening when I transferred to a university where I had to pay for my own. Ouch!
