how many students accepted to cal states for nursing program?

i'm curious about the stats.

when i do apply for a nursing program at a california state university, i'm curious as to my competition.

I understand nursing school is pretty competitive.

so out of curiosity, how many students actually get accepted to different cal states? how many apply in the first place?

I don't need exact figures, rather i'd like to know an estimation..

thanks!

as far as i know the numbers differ greatly within the different cal state universities. at the fullerton campus, there are about 350 applicants for 48 or so spots. i recall reading that at some campuses they take about 48 out of a total of 900 applicants!! pretty competitive!

cal state long accepts 90 students and they receive anywhere from 275 to 350 applicants depending on the semester.

hey! I applied for CSUEB for fall 2009 but was rejected. I'm not too shocked since I didn't have any of their additional "optional" criteria. However, my friends applied to other CSU's. I know one friend applied to CSUEB and Sac. He was waitlisted at both. I think he was #192 on the Sac waitlist and East Bay no longer lets you know what number you are on the waitlist. His GPA was a 3.7 and his TEAS was somewhere in the low 80s (percent-wise).

My other friend was #130 on the Sac waitlist (she has a 3.8 GPA and an 88% on the TEAS), and she was also waitlisted at East Bay but just got a call a few days ago saying they accepted her off the waitlist! She also applied to Long Beach and got in right away without dealing with the waitlist.

So I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the competition varies by school. Good luck to you!

Unfortunately, competition is pretty stiff at all of the CSU campuses. At CSU Sacramento, there were 327 applicants for 61 slots in the fall '09 cohort. Average GPA of those accepted was 3.91. Average TEAS score was 92%.

If you'd like more specific info, the CSUS applicant pool statistics for the last three years are posted here:
