How many of of you are BLS certified?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Wondering how many of you pre-nursing students have completed the BLS certification for healthcare professionals?

I have taken regular CPR courses before but most recently when I had my youngest child (he is 7! yikes). Anyway, I volunteer in a local ED and the nurse manager suggested that I get my BLS for healthcare providers now. I have completed the online portion and just need to complete the skills training.

Close to one more thing off my "to do" list :-)

I am as well. Yes it is good to have before you get in some colleges wont let you in until you have it done . Good for you

I had to get it for one if my prereqs for my BSN program, Intro to Nursing. It's pretty much a CNA program.

Ive been BLS Certified since I started my EMT course.. I had to be certified before starting my EMT course back in 2009, ive had to recert once already, just can get pricey paying 50-60 each time.

I am also ACLS Certified, I didnt go for my PALS yet (at the time the course was being offered my schedule didnt fit)

i did the ACLS for fun, it was a great class! i passed the final test with a perfect score

I paid $40 this time through my school. Now I work for a hospital, and as long as I work for them, I won't have to pay for it when I need to recert. I'm also considering taking EKG and ACLS (for fun) over the summer just because its offered at my job for free.

I work at a hospital so I have to be BLS certified among other things. I also had to have it for my CNA and I have to have it for Nursing School which I start in a few weeks.

I was bls for healthcare providers certified since I was 15. I worked as a lifeguard and didnt start nursing school until I was 22. I should just get my instructor cert in it! Lol

I am! I got interested in ems during high school. Most hospital jobs require it that I have noticed. Even the unit secretary jobs!

The hospital I work at requires it for every single employee. I think it's great. You never know when BLS will be needed.
