How is Nutrition?

Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have to take the course Nutrition as one of my prerequisites for a nursing program i plan to enter. How is this class in terms of difficulty, interest level, etc. ? I signed up to take it this summer and it is an accelerated 6-week course. Any thoughts from those who have already taken the course whether in summer, spring, or fall are appreciated.

I took it last summer. It was also a prereq for my nursing program. I forget if it was 6 or 8 weeks long..? I took it online. It was pretty easy and interesting for the most part. I am guessing it varies from one school or class to the next, though...nutrition can get pretty in-depth.

I am curious about this, too, since I am also taking a 6-week summer course in Nutrition. Waiting for some more feedback...

I took it for the first 6 weeks of my first semester of the nursing program...interest level, in my opinion, not that interesting at all...it was getting in the way of my other courses, so I was glad when it was over. It isn't so much as difficult, as it is kind of boring, but that's just my opinion. It's not too hard as long as you read the chapters. I also took this course online, for that was the only way my college offers it. I came out with a 96. Best of luck! You'll be just fine.

I took it this past spring. I was initially extremely interested - but the class itself was a bore. It might have just been my teacher, though. The information was very easy, and pretty basic - a lot of things you will know already. Basic food label info, different proteins, fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals, info on diabetes, and nutrition for infants, children and pregnant/lactating women. I got an A in the class without a whole lot of studying, so don't worry about it. You'll do fine. :)

I knew most of the stuff already but did learn a few things. It was a super, duper easy A.

It really depends on the teacher/school. I thought that this class was going to be "fluffy".... It wasn't. It was the hardest class i ever taken. I have taken, A&P, Chemistry, and BIO. I really struggled with this class. I really hope your class will not be this tough.

I took the class online over our 5-week "Winter Intercession" term back in January. It was a very involved class with a lot of work, but I didn't think it was that bad. The class started about a week after I had some pretty major foot surgery...so on one hand, I was out of work for the first 2 weeks of class and had more time on my hands; but then on the other hand, it wasn't an easy recovery and I didn't have a lot of energy during that time. The most time-consuming project for us was a self-evaluation of our diet over a 3-day period, and I honestly thought that was really interesting. Overall, I enjoyed the class.

SUPER easy and interesting. You have nothing to worry about unless your teacher is sadistic. LOL

I took this 8 week class through Jacksonville University. The professor was involved in biochem-type stuff, can't remember his exact degree. It got pretty in depth and actually was pretty interesting. I honestly didn't think I would learn much from the class but I was mistaken! It wasn't extremely difficult, but I wouldn't consider it a fluffy class either.

I take this class in the spring but my advisor told me that its a class that is harder than most people think. He said that most people go in there thinking its an easy A, but in reality you have to really work for it and study. So I think you just have to give it your all as you would any science class.

I took it this past spring. It was online. I had about 8 50 question tests, plus a couple other projects. There were a few questions I didn't know where the professor got the information from (neither from book or powerpoints). Got enough to transfer to nursing school in the fall. I personally would not take it online.
