How Do You Manage Kids/household/school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hey Everyone!

Does Anybody Plan On Working Full Time While Earning Their Nursing Degree?

Do You Have Kid/help At Home? How Are You Planning On Managing It All? I Need Some Help!

Think back to your own childhood, what are your HAPPIEST memories? Were they with the sitter? or with your family? Were you playing with friends in your own back yard, or being told to be still and be quiet with 50 other kids in a large room? When you are 85 and looking back on your life, you will never regret the time you invested in your children. ... and they will reimburse you with loving care in your old age, instead of shoving you off into "adult daycare", otherwise known as a nursing home. Family First-- Love that Lasts.

I work full time and have the entire time I worked on my pre-reqs. I have 2 left...the one I'm taking now and the one I'll be taking next semester. And then all I have are the nursing courses.

I work full time, have a husband, 1 year old daughter and obviously a house to keep up with. DH swears he will help me once the Nursing classes start, but I'm a bit nervous. I do have a large family that is more than willing to help me out. This is a small part of my life and granted it will take up a huge chunk of my time, it will be much better for my family in the long-run. I am afraid of how I will adjust when the time comes to start the Nursing courses, but I will find a way!!

A Big, Big Thanks To Everyone Who Responded.

I Knew I Would Have To Prioritize When I Started School But I Didn't Know To What Extent It Would Be Required. I Felt So Guilty About Not Having An Immacualte Home And A Freshly Cooked Dinner Eacht Night.

But You Have All Helped Me To Realize That I Am Doing The Right Thng And Now I Don't Feel So Guilty Anymore.

This Is A Sacrifice That I Am Making For Two Years. No One Will Go Hungry Or Dirty. No One Will Be Neglected. We Just Won't Be Perfect For A While And The World Will Have To Accept It Or Be Quiet About It.

Thanks For All The Great Advice Everyone!

WHEN I STARTED NURSING SCHOOL I KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE SACRIFICES AT HOME, BUT I NEVER REALIZED TO WHAT EXTENT THEY WOULD BE. I FELT GUILTY ABOUT NOT HAVING AN IMMACULATE HOME AND A FOUR COURSE MEAL AT DINNER EACH EVENING. BUT YOU ALL HAVE HELPED ME TO REALIZE THAT I AM DOING THE RIGHT THING. AS LONG AS EVEYONE IS FED, CLOTHED, PROPERLY RESTED, AND DOING WELL IN SCHOOL (WOW-THAT'S STILL ALOT!) I WON'T WORRY.

MY HOME WON'T BE PRISTINE, BUT IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN.

THANKS!

I am a SAHM with two small boys (ages 18 mos. and 3 1/2 yrs). I just started my pre-req's this fall, and since doing so, I have had to make some changes, especially in my outlook on things ... For instance, if the house isn't perfect, oh well. The laundry and dishes will get done, just maybe not exactly when I would've preferred. Also, time management is a big issue in our family. My DH works about an hour away, so he is always trying to get home in time for me to get to class on time ... And when I have a study group, either he goes in early and comes home early, or my mom tries to help me. As far as quality time with the kids goes, I have actually noticed that it's not really "harder" now ... I seem to take about every chance I get to love on them, play with them, etc., because I know that I have limited time now. Also, my DH is great about taking the boys to the park and to their grammy's house to play. It helps me to see that my boys seem very, very happy ... and hey, maybe even enjoying the time with just Daddy and Grammy! :)

I just try to keep in mind that my going back to school is going to ultimately benefit my boys, too. Our whole family will be impacted. I try to keep my eye on the end results ... just doing this really helps with the day-to-day stuff!

You can certainly do it!!! :)
