Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

:uhoh3: Hi I am takeing the PSB exam on March 25th. I have to take two parts that I failed to be able to pass the exam. I failed the natural science part and the verbal aspect part. I have been studying all the guides they say study, but I am still having trouble with the verbal part. Please if any one know of more study material that may be of some help please post. The school that I am testing for is Shadyside school in Pittsburgh. :o

I am going for fulltime. Did you have to take an entrance exam at St.Margarets? Well any way I wont find out if I passed or failed for two weeks. Thats the hardest part for me. Hope you all the best and good luck on the test. Hopefully we will see each other in the fall. I dont know if I will have both A&P 1&2 done in time. So I might have to take them at the same time I do in nursing.

This link has practice questions from the PSB, including the non-verbal spatial. There are lots of questions on this section and explanations on how to select the correct answer. It was really helpful for when I took the test. Good Luck!

23_29_104.gif I hope that the link that was posted helps you, because I don't know of any study material. I am sorry but I do wish you the best of luck.

Hey Chill, did you get your results on the PSB yet? :specs:

10_1_19.gif No, I am pulling my hair out waiting. Did you get yours back? This will be the end of my two weeks so hopefully it will be here sometime next week. I waited to long to register for summer classes. I wasn't able to get into A&P2. So I might have to retake A&P1 if and when I get into nursing school.:o

No, I'm scheduled to take mine on the 29th at Shadyside. Since I waited so late, I won't have time to retake if that would be necessary...

BTW: Chill, where did you take A&P 1 at?

23_5_109v.gif Oh okay I wish you luck. So since they extended the test date are they doing the same for the app. If so what day is that do in? I am currently in AP1 at CCAC. I am having trouble getting in AP2 because all the classes are full. So I might have to take AP1 again if I get into Shady side.. The wait for the test is so long. :offtopic: I am taking Micro and medical terminology this summer since I can't take AP1. So what ya doing this summer?

If I get into Shadyside, I'll probably take the summer off. If I don't get accepted, I'll start on gen ed/electives toward a BSN. :)

Good choice in taking micro at CCAC. A friend of mine currently enrolled at Shadyside has told me that micro there is particularly tough.

BTW: I'm told that the science section of the PSB is a killer. I know that it's mainly biology, but of biology, what do you think it dealt with mainly?

I think cells and ATP. Some AP but not much. Study mostly things about cells and you will be fine.:offtopic: Did your friend just start? How is Shady side to him/her? Does he/she like it? How was clinical? I hope this helps. Did you try the study guides that they suggested? Try a bio sat book. I wish you luck, hope you get your results back fast or you'll be like me bald(ha,ha,ha). Do you know the app. due date. I think it is April 21, but since they changed the test date this date may be changed also.

My friend just started last August, and is finishing up 2nd semester. She is always telling me how wonderful the school and the teachers are. She also makes it clear to me that Shadyside is a rigorous program, and that if I survive until the end, I'm going to pass the NCLEX and be a great nurse. Do you know how many applicants they anticipate this year? Last year, I know that they had 1200. :uhoh3:

Yes, I got the "Nursing and Allied Health Entrance Exams" by Gooding out of the library. I'm focusing mainly on science, but will review all sections.

The "new" deadline is June 9th.
