FSCJ Spring 2018 hopefuls

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

The Fall 2017 came out last week so I thought I would start the Spring 2018 hopefuls thread. Did anyone email the program to ask what they could improve for the spring? I was advised to retake my Hesi A2 and finish my AA. I will finish my AA this summer and plan to retake m Hesi in Aug. I think we are going to do a Hesi study group in the month of July too. There is also a facebook group started as well. Good luck everyone.

Do you guys have news for when we are supposed to fulfill our physicals/immunization requirement? :)

I called a few weeks ago and she said we'd get that info at orientation as well as our class schedule and whether we'll be days or nights/weekends.

Hello. I am a Summer hopeful and I was wondering what the score was for those who got in for the Spring. Thanks in advance!

I am also applying to Summer. I finished my A.A. this past summer and chose to take a little break. Haven't taken the HESI yet, pretty worried about that. Lol. Anyways, HI!

I think the last person that asked said that the cutoff was 135.167

Hey you guys, have you guys registered for your classes yet? The email said about how the instructions are in the handbook, but it's not there. the NUR1020C and NUR1023C has labs too right? like, we need to take a lecture and a lab for both? It doesn't really say anything in the handbook. They just listed the courses to take and no further instructions.

Hi! Yes the instructions are in the link that was sent with the immunization form. When you click the link, there is a button called "Helpful information". It will be the first folder there for registration instructions. :)

When you pick the class, it auto registers you into the coinciding lab and clinical. We are only able to register for the first class (1020C) at this time, not the second half of the semester class.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. :) I finally was able to register yesterday, but I chose another professor for the clinical because the professor who I took for the lab and lecture had already a full class. Do you think that it would be alright if i have a different professor for my clinical?

Also, is it usually like this? Like, students are only able to register 1020C first and then the 1023C after? Cuz my Federal Aid dropped a lot since I'm only registering for 1020C. I'm worried because my financial aid was supposed to be a lot bigger.

I'm sure it's fine for clinicals. From what I could see, it's 24 seats per teacher for lab/lecture and then there are 2 clinical options per teacher with 12 seats each. So it would have only offered you what was available for the teacher you picked for lab/lecture.

As far as the class registration, I'm not entirely sure but I am thinking that it's possible it will only be this way during the first semester. I'm on the same boat with my VA payments.

Are you currently on the Facebook group that is for everyone that is in the spring 2018 program? There is a lot of shared information that is extremely helpful.

I had to do the same thing, I signed up for one professor for lab and lecture and had to sign up for the other professor for clinical.

when you apply do you get points for having an A.A. and having work experience? and if so how many points do you get?

No points for either. Points are calculated based on 3 sections. First being grades received in AP 1 & 2, Microbiology, Algebra, Humanities, Human Development, English Comp 1, Psycology, and Chemistry. Maximum of 4 points per class with both APs and Micro having an additional 1.3 multiplier. Max 40 points.

Second section is HESI A2 scores specifically for Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Math. Max of 25 points per subject and 100 Max overall.

Third section is strictly additional points for any of the 4 Hesi sections you scored an 80 or above with a max point addition of 20 points.

160 points total

The FSCJ website allows you to open the application and the second page shows exactly how they calculate the points.
