Re: Fresno State BSN entry
Congrats to all of you that have got in so far, and good luck to those who are still waiting! The program as CSUF is awesome and totally worth the stress and wait, but it IS confusing in the beginning! I got in Spring 2008 (I'm in 4th semester now), I only found out like the first week of January that I was accepted (two weeks before the semester started)! Very nerve-wracking the way they do things.
To answer some questions I've seen on the thread so far:
-It is a 6 semester program, therefore if you start in a Spring semester, you will graduate in a fall semester (ex. start in Spring 2010, graduate Fall 2012.
-Housing isn't terrible around here the way it is in the bay area, but California is more expensive then other states in general. Think $350-450 a month for sharing a 3 bedroom house and having your own bedroom/bathroom, or around $800 for your own 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. Check out Craigslist for ideas.

-Each semester is around 10 units or so, so you'll have enough time to finish up your 4 Upper division GE classes along with the classes that are additional requirements of the program, but not nursing classes. These include Nutrition (Nutr 53), Lifespan Development (CFS 38), Statistics (HS 92 or Math 11), Philosophy 20 or 120, Psych 10, and then either Anthro 2 or Sociology 1 or Sociology 2.
*If you don't get in the semester you first apply for and you're serious about the nursing major, you can go ahead and take these requirements. That way you have some classes to take that are worthwhile while waiting to gain admission the following semester.
The nursing program here is amazing and will be one of the best experiences of your life so far. It's tough and challenging but soooo rewarding!
Let me know if you have any other questions, I remember how confused I was during my pre-nursing days and during first semester of the program.
Good luck!
