hi guys,

I just found out I need to take it too, but I don't know where.

I have heard about taking classes online, so since I don't want to sit in my apt in nyc all summer, I though I'd take it online. I have never done that, so I am a little nervous about it....

"Where" are you taking it??? Is U of Phoenix OK??? I don't seem to find

any others, do you know??

I will totally be a part of your support group this summer, I just need to find a program !! OMG, it is not too late is it???

ahhh!!! stop right there don't take it at u of phoenix!!! its super expensive there!!!! take it at sln...suny learning network, it's only $372 for the entire class.

the suny learning network sln is a network of all the suny schools that give online courses. it give you a master list of all the schools giving the specific online course you want, you have to register through the particular school that gives the class, pay the costs through the school as well. the only thing you need to do too make sure you are not charged out of state tuition is to get a certificate of residence and mail it too what ever school you take your course at. the school's website will give you a form too fill out, you need to have it nortorized (i got it done for free at citibank) you also have to bring 2 pieces of acceptable proof that you reside in ny state.

http://www.comptroller.nyc.gov/bureaus/adm/cora.shtm

click this link and scroll down they list the things you can bring with you.

take your notorized form and your two proofs down to city hall, they will give you two copies of your certificate, send one off in the mail too the school the other one you keep for your records.

this is the link for sln

http://sln.suny.edu/index.html

here's how to search for a class....

on the top right of this page you will see the words

degree courses contact us

click on courses

this will take you too a page which says "course listings"

on the top left of this page you will see a link for

"summer 2007 course listings"

click this link

another page will open with the word summer 2007 on the top left

this page will give you an entire list of every subject category known to man with little blue triangles next to them. if you click the little blue triangle it will expand to give you links too all the classes available, these links have

the class name, start and end date of class, prof name and college giving the class. if you click on any of those list it gives you a window that that has the course discription and how to register for the class.

just an fyi there are several nutrition courses listed under the biology category. if you look there is also a seperate nutrition category as well.

i choose to take the nutrition course listed under bio because it was for nursing students and i also verified it with the dean of the nursing program i applied too before i registered for it.

if you want too take the exact same class i did, pm me, and i'll try to help you register for it.

sorry this is soo long, and i hope i didn't make this too confusing for you.

Wow, thank you so much!!! You are the best.:thankya:

I did think that U of P was a little steep, I will spend enough in the next two years.....this looks like a perfect option for me and I hope it works out, but I see that the course starts today, is that correct? ( I don't know how this works)

it is after 5 , so I might have to wait until tomorrow to call them for info, but I should take the nursing one too, so---

I think I will PM you soon

edit: wait- I looked at the wrong course...I'll PM you...

I'm taking Nutrition at USF here in Florida. It's a public university, so tuition is not as bad as a private univ. I've only read a couple chapters so far....it seems pretty interesting. I finally know what all that mumbo jumbo means on the food labels!!

BTW, I noticed both of you guys are from NYC. I am a native New Yorker..born and raised in Staten Island. Miss it so much....

I am taking a condensed 2 week 'mini-mester' nutrition class at my local community college. I attend class 4 hours every evening, 5 days per week, for a total of 11 days. This class started on May 11 and ends on May 25, so I will have completed a traditional semester class in only 2 weeks.

WOW!! That's intense......let us know how it goes!!

nutrition can be fun and easy or redic I've seen both...it depends on how far the instructor gets into it, but online you should be safe.

Here's an update. The 2-week nutrition class ended on the 25th of May, and I looked online at my unofficial transcript to see if my semester grade had been posted. I was pleased to discover that I had earned an 'A' grade. Earning 3 credit hours in 2 condensed weeks was a great experience, and I would do it again.
