Financing second degree in nursing...

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, talked to my school received previous degree in said you won't get much in regards to financial aid to cover the program. The admission office said best option is private loans and a scholarship can apply to for second degree student's. Suggested take out a $30K private loan, but worried won't be covered. At most in financial aid they said could obtain be about $10K to $15K.

Nurse I work with has her certificate in Nursing, but she is in a direct entry master's program that cost her $75,000. Mostly she is paying for it by private loans and then when she graduates she work's with a nurse Corp.

Anyone know if you eligible for more aid with accelerated program's?

Thinking of going associate's route cost is only $25K with $10,000 in financial aid plus $5,000 from my employer would only need a $10,000 loan.

How much luck did you have finding work if you went associate's route with your ASN/ADN?

If you do an entry level master's you will get more financial aid (up to $100,000+). However, all aid will only be unsubsidized loans.

This is a perpetual thread here on AN. Basically, educational subsidies funded by taxpayers are intended to help people attain their initial educational goals. If you have already tapped that source and then decide you want more..... it is on you.

This only applies to the masters portion of the program. Any pre req or classes deemed undergraduate level are still billed through ug financial aid
