Proof is in the "pudding" Thanks to my digital recorder I made an A on my first lecture test in A&P2....I doubt I would have done so well without it since my teacher is "fast and furious" ( and scattered on top of it). He doesn't write much on the board or give us any visual aids during lecture. :wink2:

I record using my PDA that was recommended for my program. It is digital and I must say I definitely prefer it over the cassette recorder that I used to have.

I record my lectures using my laptop. I have it there anyway to take notes and since I take my notes using Microsoft OneNote, it synchs up my notes with the audio recording.

I can burn the files to CD....usually I end up just putting them on my IPod or listening to them on my PC as I go through my class notes and add to them. Another benefit is that I don't have to remember to bring another device to class

    Peace,

So does anyone use a digital recorder to download to a Mac? I've been reading on the Olypus website and it's not clear to me whether they support Mac computers.

I have an Olympus 960PC, comes with a USB, the software to transfer your lectures to your pc, earphones, and a mic. I got it from Radio Shack for like $64.00. It holds 16 hours of recording too, so I don't have to transfer my lectures right away if I don't want to. I listen to it at work, all the time, I LOVE IT!

The teacher doesn't have to necessarily know that you have a recorder as long as you use a digital recorder. Wear the recorder on your belt or something, you could hide the recorder.

I am wondering the same thing! But I thought since it would just plug in your computer through the USB port, and a MAC has a USB port, it would work. I think I'm wrong though, since I just looked at the manual for one of the voice recorders on the Olympus website and it said just compatable for a PC and must have Windows 95 or higher I love my MAC but sometimes it can be hard to get stuff for it!

    I found this:
    http://www.xheadsoftware.com/recorde...FQuNHgod-16BqQ
but it looked like that was just software that you installed on your computer, so you would have to bring your laptop to class..

I also found this one that you hook on to your iPod directly:
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/italkpro/#
but it said available Winter 2006 the original iTalk was discontinued, ugh.
There are many more that you hook on to your iPod but they have pretty bad ratings of poor quality or only an hour battery life. Most of my classes are 1hr and 15 minutes or just 50 minutes, but still I don't have time to recharge them before classes!

Well if I find one for a MAC I will let you know! Anyone else?

After reconsidering, Marie is right. If you were to get caught you would be in a heep of trouble. I answered the way I did because I get annoyed when I hear stories about teachers not allowing their classes to be recorded. At the same time their reasons are valid.

I also use an Olympus digital recorder and have been since June of 2004.

I wont get caught because I never said I was going to do that. I did just fine on my first exam without taping and I can do it the rest of the way through. Thanks though.
