Howdy,

Thanks for starting this thread. I am taking A&P II by itself. I work full time days and have some other distractions. Microbiology will be next semester. I didn't get into that habit until too late last semester. Luckily, I still did well in lecture and lab.

I am determined to spend more time in the lab this semester. In fact, I plan on being in Open Lab Saturday morning.

I'm enrolled for A&P 2 this semester. I start Wednesday, with my first A&P 2 class being Thursday. I'm also taking Comp 2, Intermediate Algebra, Nutrition and Diet, and Music Appreciation. I don't understand the need for a fine art, but Music Appreciation sounded like it would be the easiest to handle. LOL

I'm taking A&P 2 this semester too.. as well as Nutrition, English Literature, and Developmental Math.. Not too happy about the math but hey what can you do. All I have left is (as far as pre-reqs) is College Algebra to be able to apply for the ADN program at my school so this developmental math stuff is kind of slowing me down. I was one point away on the accuplacer exam from being able to take college algebra! Oh well, I probably need to refresh my memory on most of it anyway, and now I don't have to rush this semester trying to get my application and vaccines done.

Had our first Physiology lab today. Looks like it will be fun. Definitely not as involved as Anatomy lab! We have to do a semester-long investigation project that's due the last week of class. Trying to come up with a topic that will enable me to get enough participants!

I've got a 3 hour break between Physiology & Microbiology so I'm using this time to study :D (Taking a break to eat lunch at the moment)

We did a fun experiment to introduce statistical method and what standard deviation is, for those who have never taken stats. It was fun. We had to put 100 mL of water into a beaker, weigh a 40 mL dry beaker, then transfer 40 mL from the large beaker to the small one using a random pattern of increments. We then had to weigh the beaker and calculate exactly how my mLs were actually in the beaker. Then we had to repeat it using different methods to get the water into the beaker (e.g. use a graduated cylinder, pour directly, etc.) We then had to calculate the class average and determine the standard deviation to find out which method was the most accurate. Simple, but we had fun getting to know each other and work as a team.

Our professor also had the Supplemental Instructor come to class today. He tutors A&P and also holds a study group 3 days per week. I'm definitely going to sign up for the study group!

Hello everyone!! My only on campus class is lab. I had my first lab class on last Thursday. My teacher is awesome we went over the Endocrine system briefly with PowerPoint slides and the syllabus and such. Then we broke out the old microscopes!! We had to draw four different glands and hand them in before the end of class. My teacher has given us access to the Mastering A&P website it's not for grades it's for practice this semester. If anyone has Marieb for the author of your textbook and you have the access codes for A&P I highly recommend using this website it's loaded!!! I can't wait until Thursday already!!! I hope everyone is enjoying class so far!!! BTW last day of lab is the end of November!!!! Yay!!!!

Yes, I'm going to my first tutor/study group tomorrow morning. So far, Physio doesn't seem too hard (reviewing cell membranes, active transport, diffusion, etc.) but I know it's quickly going to get more complex as we progress.

Only *you* can answer that question. What do you think you can realistically handle? Does science & memorization come easy to you? If so, go for it! I'm taking 6 classes this semester and while many people think I'm nuts, I'm loving it! It's all based on what you feel capable of doing. Do you have the time to devote to each class? Do you have the time to dedicate for studying each subject daily?

A&P - lots of memorization/study - most time consuming! (Usually a few hours study each day...no joke!)

Algebra - as long as you keep up with your practice examples, it's a breeze

French - J'aime beaucoup mes courses françaises! Bon chance :)

Anthropology - Most people I know take this online. Usually involves writing papers/extensive reading

So...sit down and figure out exactly how much time you have available and add up the time you'll need to spend on each class to determine if it's feasible for you. Best of luck :D
