Since we had these threads when I was in A&P I and II, and I thought I'd start one for Microbiology. Anybody else delving into the world of bacteria and viruses this fall? Let's start a support thread! Let's share our victories... Read More

I find micro harder then a&p, but we didnt have a test yet

Finally got our lecture exams back. I only missed 3 questions....yay! In fact, 2 of the questions I missed, I had crossed out my first answer (multiple choice) and circled a different answer. My original answers were correct...dang it! My prof wrote in the margin "don't you wish you wouldn't have changed your answers?" LOL

This was the one test I was worried about because our prof doesn't give a study guide and there's SO MUCH material to cover. We're covering Krebs cycle, glycolysis, enzyme metabolism, etc., in our new unit. Not exactly the most exciting material, but at least once we're doing with this...the rest is all interesting. (Can you tell I don't like biochemistry?)

We're doing Gram staining in lab tomorrow. We were supposed to do it on Wed., but we can't use Bunsen burners anymore (someone set the lab on fire) and the warming trays we have to use to dry slides take FOREVER to work. They barely get warm! I would seriously love to question where our lab fees go, because I certainly don't see it reflected in the equipment we use. Heck, we get ONE lab gown for the entire 16 week semester. Do you know how nasty those things are going to be by the end of the semester? Ewwww!

You sound like me with the one lab coat. I barely passed on the first test, but our professor is all over the test. How did you study? We are going over the same stuff krebs to having to memorize all the bacteria.

91% on the first test! Would have been even better if I hadn't made some stupid STUPID mistakes! This is the problem with taking classes that start after your bedtime...

I found micro harder than anatomy and physiology. I think it is different for everyone though. If you think it is an interesting subject, you will naturally do better in it than I did. I hated micro, it was not interesting, and I felt like I had to "survive" it. I loved A&P, it was fascinating and I really enjoyed studying the material. It was no big effort to do well in it for me. Micro just was not my cup of tea.

Yes I'm feeling the same way as I'm going into the semester. The cellular respiration is killing me:/

I have been writing a research paper on Gonorrhea for my class. Seriously, if I see one more photo of purulent discharge, I will never eat again. I turn it in tomorrow and I now consider myself an expert. Of all the diseases out there, I was assigned this one. So much fun!

I was assigned a food-borne illness. I have to pick between Salmonella (typhoidal type), E. coli or B. cereus. Not the most pleasant material to cover when you like to snack & study at the same time!

Aren't you glad we get it out of the way now, rather than at the end of the semester?
