hi joseph the "jojoba",
i applied to CSUN, CSUF, CSULB and couple of CC. just got an email from one of CC that didn't get into the spring semester and probably have to wait until the fall.

i am preparing for the TEAS test since CSULB & CC require it and still don't know when to take (waiting for CC to give me the exact date).

just like you guys, waiting...

Pill Re: Fall 2010 UCLA MECN applicants share your comments/concerns
I just applied to UCLA's MECN last month, as well. I can't believe we need to wait until at least March! Since my GPA isn't the greatest, except for my prereqs, I'm hoping that my personal statement will be heavily weighted.

I also applied to CSUN's ABSN, MSMC ABSN and Johns Hopkins. I was thinking of applying to SF State and CSULA. However, I've been really turned off by CSULA and at last check it doesn't seem they are going to offer a MECN program in 2010. Oh yeah, I'm officially on Santa Monica College's waiting list, looks like I can enter sometime in 2011. I really hope it doesn't come down to that.

You know, I'm just realizing I never received a confirmation email. However, I hand delivered my application. Do you think they didn't send an email because obviously it made it there?

I emailed to Sheli if she received my app, and she replied yes. Since you hand delivered it, I don't think you need to worry whether she got it or not. I applied to one of the local CCs for spring 2010, but all applicants were on the waitlist already. According to the counselor, I can get in no later than fall 2010. Hope it is true! Cross my finger. If I can get into any of the RN program, I am happy as a little clam.

Hi everyone, I also applied for fall 2010 at UCLA's MECN program. I'm so glad I finished the application and have it turned in! I'm also applying to CSUN's accelerated BSN program. That application is due at the end of this month, so I'll soon have all my applications submitted. I decided the best way to keep my mind occupied until I find out if I got in is to stay busy with work and school. I graduate this December (CSUCI, Biology, B.S.), but I'm going to take Spanish, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology at a community college during the spring semester. Hopefully March will be here before I know it!

I live in Ventura county, so I'm not looking forward to the commute into L.A., should I be accepted, but I heard that there are shuttles you can take to school, which will allow me to study (and save gas!). Anyhow, just wondering what everyone's undergraduate degree is in? I have a B.A. in Philosophy and B.S. in Biology. So, I'm really hoping to get into a master's program. No more bachelors’ degrees for me; I'm ready for graduate level work!

I come from a very varied background, with a BA in Theatre Arts. I've been a webmaster for the past 9 years at an engineering firm. My goal is to become a Certified Diabetes Educator via RN route after living with the disease for over 26 years. My self discovery and passion for research has lead me to make a change to become a professional instead of just a patient, volunteer and mentor.

hi girls,
good to hear from you and your experience. i was a biology major too and worked for a biotech company for a few years, recently got laid off b/c of the bad economy. it was hard to go back to the classroom as i left the college few years ago. i am getting used to it and enjoying a lot. i am going to take one chem course (general & organic combination) in the spring, since my chem courses are more than five years old. maybe take one nutrition & food course also, still debating.

Sugarlips, I have Type I diabetes too! 23 years, so you've got 3 years on me! Have you looked into the campus's health benefits? I've been concerned about getting adequate health care without coverage through my work.

I'm always so excited to meet other diabetics! My next door neighbor has Type II diabetes, and we often get into deep discussions on the topic of delicious low-carb foods (his favorite subject). Do you have an insulin pump? I waited quite awhile before getting mine, but now I feel that I couldn't live without it. I've been training for a half-marathon, and the pump has made it so much easier to control my bgs. No more annoying NPH peaks.

My interest is primarily in Epidemiology and Public Health, so I've been focusing on getting volunteer experience in those areas. I currently volunteer for the Red Cross and love it. I was working last week while they were administering H1N1 vaccines. Over 2000 vaccines in one day! Where are you volunteering?

I have looked into some programs and am really scared myself. Keeping my current plan would be best, but the COBRA monthly payment of over $450 is really going to add to my loan, especially if I get into a master's program. I know that Rx copayments will be available but not sure if they cover DME supplies.

I've been on Minimed's Paradigm since 2003 and currently use the 522 with the CGMS. Been on the CGMS since January 2008 and can't imagine not having it now. Good for you doing the 1/2 marathon. I did 4 100 mile rides in support of the JDRF's Ride for a Cure, with 3 in Death Valley and one in Montana with a team in 2007. Since I went back school in 2008 I haven't been able to participate, but started to mentor again.

I've been volunteering at Cedars Sinai in the Saperstein Tower since Nov 2008 and I think this is my last week. I wish I could get the H1N1 vaccine, but no one seems to have it where I can get it. Being Type 1 and working in Healthcare you would think I'd be able to get to the front of the line SOMEWHERE! SMC had it for a day, but didn't find out until it was too late. Do you think I can go to the Red Cross and get it?
