***Fall '05 A & P II Club***

How did everyone's first day go?

My class was at 7am this morning... the earliest I've had to be mentally alert for quite some time! Still, my professor sounds like he is good: lots of easy-to-earn points like attendance points, homework points, etc. His lecture tests have 150 points total... but he only counts 120 of them in the actual grade, so you can screw up 30 points and be okay (I don't know how many actual questions this works out to, but we'll see). Plus, everything is multiple-choice, and the lab practicals (which always kill me) are about half the points as a regular lecture test, so that seems like a good thing to me.

He really does look like a Middle-Eastern Richard Dreyfus/Mr. Holland with a bowtie - he's a real MD and managed to keep my attention the entire class, which is quite a feat, considering it was 1) before noon and 2) me and my ADD brain! He had some sort of fascination with the word "capisce?" any time he wanted to make sure we understood (and he's not Italian), but that was the only weird thing. So far, so good.

How are everyone else's classes going?

(I know there was another A & P II thread going for this semester, but it seems to have been lost in the shuffle)

Anne

Hi, My name is Tiffany and last week was the first week of A & P for me. We are on the digestion system right now and we just dissected fetal pigs in lab today. It seems like it will be an ok class but it's a lot of reading and memorization. It's going to be a long semester.

Hi, Im Angela and we are actually in our third week of school. My first test on the Nervous system, spinal cords and nerves is this week. I feel totally exhausted already. our instructor told us that on average most students get a score of about 65 this first test. Im really hoping to do better than that. As for my instructor he is really getting on my nerves. He likes to flirt with the women in class, and he constantly acts like we should immediatly understand everything. Im already counting the days until I get through this class. We have been dissecting a sheep's brain. Well, at the rate things are moving in this class hopefully it will go by quickly. Well, back to studying.

Hi, Angela here again. Get this, our instructor decided to spring a test on us covering all of last semester. I was already worried about the quiz we had scheduled for the night. We had to pass the test with an 80 or better or else be prepared to take it again. Im so happy I passed with an 86, but half the class did not pass and I feel bad for them because our first official 102 test is this Thursday. Talk about pressure, not only learning new things but having to go back and review from last semester (ugh). All I keep telling myself is its all worth it, so just keep going.

I start next Saturday... found out I'll have the same prof as for A&P I... not sure whether that's a good thing or not. He definitely seems to know his stuff but the way he handled the class frustrated me a bit last semester. Oh well, this material sounds a bit more interesting than the mostly muscle and bone stuff covered in I. Good luck everyone!

How is everyone else doing? My online class seems to be going slowly. We had a discussion board to do and a lab (just identify things) this week.
