Entrance Exams???

  1. I've been reading about the NET and another test...the name slips my mind right now. I wanted to know that if I already have a bacherlor's degree...do I have to take the entrance exams again? I took the ACT and SAT SEVERAL years ago....like about 15-17 years ago. Thanks for your help!

I've heard of the NET and the HESI. I really don't think it matters if you have a degree or not.

As I see it, everyone pretty much has the same general entrance requirements in a particular program. (Different schools have different requirements, of course.)

.....This would be a good question for your nursing school of choice to answer, just to get a definate. correct answer.

    Good luck

Most schools that I've talked to that use the NET or something similar don't bother looking at your other degrees etc. The LPN school that I just got accepted to (woot) just looks at the NET score.

And no, you cant substitute ACT or SAT for net.

I know that the school that I am going to requires it of everyone, no matter what your previous education is. I've heard from others that it isnt extremely difficult-I know that there is a study guide that can be purchased to help you to prepare for it.

Yeah, the study guide is something like 30 dollars but it VERY VERY closely resembles the exam. I would definately recommend picking it up. It helped show EXACTLY what to study for.

Can't speak from experience about how difficult the N.E.T. is -- but I do know that most schools don't care whether or not you've already earned another bachelor's (or master's). I think that you are typically required to take almost all of the entrance exams, anyway, if you want to apply. (I know, it stinks.) I have a BBA, and had to take the T.E.A.S. (Test of Essential Academic Skills) last January. I will say that I didn't find it difficult at all, and I did fairly well. (I'm an average student and have been out of school since 1992, and I didn't purchase a study guide.) If you want to avoid stressing (like I put myself through!), then purchase the study guide, and you should do VERY well.

Don't worry. You can do this!
