Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?... Read More
Feb 10, '06Quote from DreamBelieveSucceedI know I can't give much advice as I've only been in the program for a few weeks but I will try to help you out with any questions that I can answer. It is very disorganized...I know that much. It depends on the type of person you are if you want to go through with it. It really develops your critical thinking skills by having to search for everything you need. It's not one of those things where you can listen in class and make an A on the test. It's more like you go to class to get your attendace points and do most of the learning on your own. Everything is a treasure hunt and I wish they would tell students that in the first place because so many of them feel that they can just go to class and they will pass. That is so far from the truth. I have a friend in 4th semester and they started out with 60 students and now only have 25 that will possibly graduate. I can see why now that I have been there for just a few weeks. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going to El Centro or Northlake or THR or everything else encompassed in El Centro, I would just say it really depends on the kind of person you are. I have a few friends at NL and I really wish I would have gone there because the teachers seem so much nicer and more willing to work with you. I am hoping I can make it through to 4th semester but my goal right now is to make it through 1st semester :roll . So far, I don't regret it. I am sorry I don't have more information for you. My only advice is be prepared to do everything on your own!Hey DCCCD group!
I love to read your "stories" about school! I get excited thinking that within a year that will be me :hatparty: !
I have a few questions, especially for the El Centro students. Even though it is early in the semester, do you all have any regrets about being at El Centro? Does the program seem to be well organized, and do the instructors seem to be "for you" and want you to succeed? I am only asking because I have a neighbor friend who is a student at El Centro who has recommended that I NOT apply there!
Thanks for the input and for your willingness to share your experiences!
Good luck on your acceptance! :angel2:
