....and we should listen to the old..for they are very wise!

Your comments are so true though. With each class, there is weeding out, then with the NET there is even more weeding out.

Again I will say this, as you will see on many of my post: Motivation, determination & dedication!!!!

With my A&P 1 class there were several A's. Many of them thanks to the curves I set! (I'm proud of those!) On the first lab practical there wasn't a curve at all b/c I made a 100. (I'm really proud of that too!) lol

However, I know that once in nursing school, I will wish I was back in A&P 1 where it was easy.

That is definitely motivation. I didn't take my A&P 1 final. I finished with 101%. In that case I was totally satisfied! lol I actually thought about taking the final, just to see how I would do on it, but decided against it.

    Congrats on your great grades!

    lol....thanks.

I have to admit, I didn't work and the kiddos were in school. I spent 90% of my time studying b/c I knew I had to make an A.

I have noticed from when I first started school and now that I am putting more time and effort into my classes and it shows with my grades! I just wish I was like this when I was younger than maybe it wouldn't have taken 10 years to get my degree!! lol I worked my butt off to get the grades that I have now and I am very proud of them! I see other people who come to classes and they just don't care. They just wanted to get a D or C just to pass the class and that was it. I was determined to get A's. My husband even said that a B would be good but I was like "No it will not. An 'A' is what I am trying to get and my determination did pay off. Maybe I should have listend to my parent's when I was younger about paying more attention in classes! LOL

Same here! I see myself in those students just wanting a C b/c it transferred.

Now, I want A's! (Now with chem, if I get a C, I will know I tried my best, but I'm still striving for an A!)

I really feel sorry for those students just wanting to pass with a C. ...Only if they knew what we know now!

Me too!! Yeah, it's been 10 years for me too. I guess it took me getting married and having a kiddo to take things seriously.

Doesn't drive you nuts when you see people who just don't care? And the sad part was a lot of them wanted to go to nursing school!!

Can someone please help me out. I have been meeting people at different dcccd schools who are telling me that they applied to El Centro with a 4.0 and did not get in after several times of trying. Now I thought that the last cut-off for GPA was a 3.77 so are these people not telling the truth or am I missing something?? P.S. Good luck to those who just turned in their applications.

OK..so in my statistics class, 80% are nursing types. I will be willing to bet that no more than 10% of them get A's. In my A&P 2 class, there were 12% A's, in my A&P 1 class, there was one A...MINE.

These classes are weed-out classes just as calculus is a weed-out course in an engineering program.

The cream always rises to the top....just because there are 75% of class members "heading for nursing school" doesn't mean that we have that much to worry about.

The motivated win by persevering....the non-motivated and incapable get left behind.

What is "motivated"? I had a 96.5 (917 out of 950 points) average in my A&P 2 class and was exempt for the final exam. When I walked into class to take the final, I was greeted with "What the HELL are YOU doing here???" by my classmates. When my instructor showed up, she said, "Mike, you don't have to do this." I said that "I paid for this course and if your are giving a test, I'm going to take it." The final grade would replace my lowest test grade for the semester.

I walked out of the final 1 hour later...with 927.5 out of 950 points. It was still an A but it was a higher A ...but I didn't do it for the instructor or for my classmates. I did it for ME. THAT IS MOTIVATION.

Hard-assed old man that I am...that's the realistic point of view.
You go Mike. I missed being exempt from my A&P II final this summer by 21 points but I studied like I needed a 100. My husband thought that I was crazzzy! Thats okay b/c I got my A!!
