Re: CSUN Accelerated B.S.N. Fall 2009 Applicants
I think you are closer distance-wise, but traffic-wise, I think that having to take the 405 would make for a longer commute.
According to google maps, I live 32.4 miles from CSUN. My plan is to take the 10 to the 5 and exit on Terra Bella, make a right; then another right on Woodman and a left on Plummer St to end up on Zelzah. On the google directions, it estimated 42 minutes without traffic and 1h 10 minutes with traffic.
Since on google maps you can easily drag the route to play around with alternate routes, I also came up with an alternative. I figure that if the traffic on the 5 is really bad, I can also take the 134 to the 170 back to the 5 and again according to google maps that should take 45 min without traffic and up to 1h 10 min with traffic.
The default route recommended is taking the 10 to the 101 to the 405, which would be 33.5 miles and take 43 minutes without traffic (or up to 1h 30 mins with traffic), but I don't think that's the best choice given the traffic on the 101 and the 405.
I really wish I had more of an idea of what our schedule would be like. I initially thought that our orientation would be in April, I don't understand why they're putting it off until just a few days before we start.
