Well since we won't be getting financial aid for the summer --I'll have to commute at least for the summer. Then I'll decide whether or not to move there in the Fall. If the drive is too much then I would definitely want to move, but if it works out okay leaving early/staying in the library until the traffic dies down, then I won't.

I would be commuting from marina del rey! is that further or closer in miles than from the city that you would be commuting from?

I think you are closer distance-wise, but traffic-wise, I think that having to take the 405 would make for a longer commute.

According to google maps, I live 32.4 miles from CSUN. My plan is to take the 10 to the 5 and exit on Terra Bella, make a right; then another right on Woodman and a left on Plummer St to end up on Zelzah. On the google directions, it estimated 42 minutes without traffic and 1h 10 minutes with traffic.

Since on google maps you can easily drag the route to play around with alternate routes, I also came up with an alternative. I figure that if the traffic on the 5 is really bad, I can also take the 134 to the 170 back to the 5 and again according to google maps that should take 45 min without traffic and up to 1h 10 min with traffic.

The default route recommended is taking the 10 to the 101 to the 405, which would be 33.5 miles and take 43 minutes without traffic (or up to 1h 30 mins with traffic), but I don't think that's the best choice given the traffic on the 101 and the 405.

I really wish I had more of an idea of what our schedule would be like. I initially thought that our orientation would be in April, I don't understand why they're putting it off until just a few days before we start.

Does anyone know whether this program accepts ITV classes??

I tried calling and they couldn't answer me. Then I sent an email and got this response:
You can go to assist.org to check if those prerequisites transfer to our university. Otherwise, we do not have any nursing advisors available for prospective nursing applicants due to the budget that can answer your prerequisites question.

Yeessh times are tough!!

I went on assist and they don't have ITV classes available. But I'm just checking just in case b/c I am already enrolled for the class. Have any of you gone this route?

I remember looking into this last Fall because I was considering taking Lifespan Psych with iTV. I ended up not taking because I opted to put it off until the Winter, but I contacted iTV Admissions and asked about how I could find out whether or not the courses transfer over. She said that since the iTV program transcripts are sent from LA Mission College, that as long as the assist.org said that the given University accepted the course from LA Mission College, they would accept the iTV course. Here is the contact info:

I picked up my "Change of Major" form in the Health Science Dept and personally took it over to Admissions and Records the other day. Just to let you all know, is is CSUN's Spring Break and the parking lots were empty there were no lines to drop off the form. It was a piece of cake! You may want to do the same to avoid the trouble of parking and waiting in lines. Just a heads up, I know the form is not due immediately.

You're welcome, CareerSwitch--were you able to get your questions answered?

SBalmost_there: Has your major been updated on the website? I mailed mine to admissions several weeks ago, but it still says "Pre-nursing." I guess I don't need to worry about it yet, but I'm just wondering if it would have made a difference if I had just dropped it off in person.

I just looked at my account and it also says "Pre-Nursing". I am confused because I personally dropped it off and the girl in admissions literally showed me the computer screen so I could see that it had been changed. Her screen looked exactly like what we see when we look at the "Application Status" and I saw that she had changed it to "Nursing". I tried calling admissions, but they do not open until 10 am today. I will get back to you and let you know what's going on as soon as I find out.
