Clepping for Pre-reqs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

My name is Michelle, I am a pre-nursing student.

I haven't made a formal introduction yet and I don't know if I am out of line. If I am, just remove and I will do the intro first.

My question:

I am planning to Clep out of my pre-req courses. I have done the research and find that some nursing schools are willing to consider as long as it meets their requirements for a GPA, so I am curious if anyone else has done this and how did it work out for you.?

One thing to be aware of is that some schools will only accept CLEP'ed classes as a C or a Pass rather than a grade. If you're competing against other students who have A's in these classes, your GPA will not be as competitive.

So my score would mean nothing but a simple pass and that's it?

It all depends on the school. Many schools use a rubric to award applicants points based on certain criteria. Just check with your school and see what they say.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Also, most schools require your science courses to contain a concurrent laboratory component. Only the schools you are applying to can answer the question of what they will accept.
