carrington college Reno Kaplan exam 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey everyone! I just took the Kaplan today for Carrington Reno and did pretty good but I'm not sure if it's good enough because it depends on the pool of people! I was wondering other people's scores and opinions on the best way to study. I retake mine in Febuary. I got a 235/300! Passing is in the 160's but I feel like 235 isn't good enough. Let me know!

I got 87 out of 100 %. I placed top ten in the list of 65 accepted students bc of that plus a 4.0 gpa. Once you know what the highest score is, you have to cross multiply your score equals x, over the highest score equalling 100. Then that is where you are on the grade scale.

I go to a different school but have never heard of those kinds of scores so I'm not sure if what I have is right for you. How was the test set up? Mine had between 20 and 28 questions in 4 sections: reading comprehensive, writing, anatomy and physiology section, and math with math having the most questions. We had to make at least 75 to pass.

Specializes in Maternal Child, Home Health, Med/Surg.

How bad was it? I'm applying to Wnc and TMCC this year but am using Carrington as a backup. I know they have a BUNCH of applicants, so I definitely know it's competitive.

There is no percentage on the Kaplan. They only accept 36 students and GPA has nothing to do with your acceptance.

it was tricky! I missed one on the math but because it's only 20 questions it was an 84% which converts to an 86 on the Kaplan! You literally can't miss any of them. Same with writing and reading. I missed 3 and 2- in that order, and it was only a 235 score out of 300! Math was easy, the questions are tricky. I'm taking it again on the 14th!

Dang...maybe this is a different Kaplan exam? And it's odd that a school wouldn't consider your past grades. Hmmmm. Sounds really competitive.

I've thought about trying them. I bought the kaplan study book. But I'm not sure. I think I'll stick with WNC first lol. I hope you get a better grade! I've heard the kaplan is hard.

If this is the book you are thinking of buying I need to share my take on it.

Nursing School Entrance Exams (Kaplan Nursing S... 5th Editionth Edition | Rent 9781609786724 | 1609786726

Really listen to the reading comprehensive tips!

It has 0 help for the writing section!

Math is way beyond what you need to review. Buy the nln nursing entrance exam and focus on their ratios and proportions using word problems. Also some solving for X and changing fractions ratios and percentages back and forth. No geometry or graphs and linear equations. Basic additional subtraction multiplication and division of fractions and decimals. ALWAYS PUT A ZERO BEFORE THE DECIMAL POINT ON THE COMPUTER CALCULATOR. It won't work correctly unless you do so.

The physiology is something very basic but all over the body. Really focus on basics of anatomy and physiology. If you can take this exam 2 times.

Thank you! I'm taking my TEAS V 3/27 so the advice is definitely helpful!

For the TEAS buy the ATI study guide. I've heard so any people refer to it but I never used it. Borrow from a friend?

Oh! This advice is for people taking the kaplan nursing entrance exam. I've read on AN that the TEAS is very different and a harder exam. Science is from biology chemistry and anatomy and physiology. Math had the tables charts linear math and geometry. I would look at the ATI as I previously mentioned. Best of luck to you!

The Kaplan wasn't too hard but each section was only about 20 questions. So, if you miss one, you only have a 95%. In Kaplan words its only 86 points. Why, I do not know! And she said it was one of the highest shes seen SO FAR. Hopefully I will do better next time
