Unhappy Re: Broward College January 2010 Acceptances
Congrats to the ones who made it. I did not make the cut as I figured as much. I had 7 points. All A's & B's and one C in chem. I haven't felt like a slacker in school in a long time until now. Oh well, I'm going after other schools and I'm confident that the only having 1 C won't haunt me forever...I hope.

I'm so sorry to hear that. In the scheme of things, one C is not bad; especially in Chemistry. That's a hard class. Good luck with the other schools. Keep trying.

I am hoping to attend Broward College in January 2010. I need one semester to complete my prereqs to apply to the nursing school. I have a bachelor's degree already, I am looking for a career change. I am trying to find out if there is a long wait to get into the nursing program. What are the chances that I will be accepted and be able to start the nursing program in the summer 2010? Also, I'm not too familiar with the points system. Is it based on grades? Are there extra curricular ways to obtain points? I'd appreciate any info...thank you!

Make sure that you email the nursing admissions coordinator. Emphasize that you will accept a "no show" school slot in the event someone is not able to start the program. You would be surprised at the number of non attendees that happen. Apply to other programs for spots on their waiting list. (Use the same general wording.)

Good luck!

You can go to the Broward College site and it will show when they will be accepting applications for the summer I think. It is based on a points system which does rely on your grades. In my acceptance letter it said that they accepted people with 8-22 points. I had 12. So they don't have a waiting list. They outline how the points system works on their site, too.

Hope this helps.

For January 2010 I've got an alternate seat. So I'm not sure if I'll be starting in January or Summer. What campus is a good campus for nursing. As far as the professors?

Mandy...Alternate is not so bad last semester all the alernates got in. So will get in for the January 2010 program. I have heard that North is the best campus to go to for numerous people so I dont know how true that is or if there is any real difference but there must be a reason why North is the campus everyone is choosing. May I ask how many points did you receive ?
