I am going to be 27 in less than a month. I have 3 kids, who are 1.2, almost 4 and 7.5. I am goign back to school, and it has made me so happy. before the decision to go back I was honestly probably sinking into depression, because my goals in life were never to be a sahm forever, or to work in retail, and I had no skills that could easily get me a job or develop a business, as my mom did. I am truly the type who is education oriented. I love to learn. I feel better when I am learning. I am nervous about going back, and balancing it with a marraige(dh and I have been married years, but together for 9) and a family, but there was no way i could live my life happily if I didnt get back to school.

I picked nursign because I am very curious about the medical field, it offers advancement opportunities(I plan on gettign my masters), it is soemthign that is almost an adventure(I have a mind that just doesnt stop) it is realistic(honestly, other goals of mine- travel channel host!lol) and because I have an incredibly strong desire to join organizations like drs without borders or soemthing liek that when my kids are grown, and this could provide me with a wonderful chance to do so.

    Hi All,

I'm going to be 27 in August. I have 2 years of college completed, I stopped going to school to travel and have some fun after a really bad relationship. I'm married now and my husband just got out of the Army (they dont make it easy) so we are trying to get out of a rut. He's in school to be a helicopter pilot so I found out I had all the pre-req's for nursing and decided to go for it. We want to start a family soon but thats not possible to do without money. I am the oldest out of my family and his family and alot of them have already gotten their degrees. I've been feeling so far behind. Now i'm motivated now more than ever, I dont want to let another 4 years go by and be in the same situation. I wish all you the best of luck in accomplishing your goals!!!

God Bless you! You just gave me a great idea. I was worried about how I was going to help feed my kids and pay rent (I have a 13 y/o and a set of 9 y/o twins. :smiley_ab ). I was accepted into a BSN program but I wanted to pull my weight, too. I am married but I don't want the weight to just be on him, you know? Thank you.

    I am a proud 34 and I turn 35 in November. Oh my G-d?
I have wanted to be a nurse for years. There is a time in everyone's life were they would like to make a positive impact on other people's lives. For some it happens earlier and for most, it happens later in our lives. What better way to do that than to become a nurse? Good Luck to everyone in your quest for greatness; nobody said it would be easy.

I just finished my pre reqs. I am 42 and have been raising a 2 year old granddaughter for the last 6 months. Balance is tricky, I have a 13 year old, 22 year old, and a 23 year old. I am looking forward to being a nurse. I don't consider myself old, I am still very active and energetic.Good luck everyone on reaching the goals you have set.

i'm not "old"... i'm actually turning 22 tomorrow. but i certainly am in a different point in my life than my peers. while a lot of them are still partying every weekend, i have a child to take care of. my priorities are a complete 180... establishing a career that will support myself and my daughter.
