Anyone taking 12 plus credits while working Full-Time?

This Part-Time school thing is going too slow for me. I've been avoiding enrolling in more than 6-7 credits per semester because I had some pre-existing notion that it would be too much for me since I am working full time (mon-fri 9-5) and have a 7 year old, but I somehow feel like I may be okay. Is anyone out there taking 12 + credits while working full time and with a child/children that can reassure me that it may not be so bad?

It would be two traditional classes, plus two online classes:

Concepts of Chem

English 2 (online)

Intro to Nutrition (online)

Public Speaking

Specializes in Critical care.

I did that this whole last semester. All of my classes were online but there were still FOUR of them. And I worked full time, 12 hour shifts. It got a little hectic at times but I did it and the extra money definitely helped my family!

Specializes in Psychiatry.

How long is your summer term? If it's like 6 weeks, 12 credits is a lot. My husband did it a couple summers ago and he rarely slept because of it. Of the 4 classes he took, 2 of those were heavy sciences though. If you are taking easier classes, it might not be as bad but you should be prepared for a ton of work, especially with other obligations thrown in the mix. Only you know what you can handle and how much sleep you require to function. It would be pretty tough to work full time and take this kind of load in a shortened summer, if not highly improbable.

So far im interested in intro chemistry, english, pyschology (on campus classes) and hoping to volunteer in a basic science club. The classes are from early june to end of july.

If you keep your goal in front of you and think about how awesome it will be when you finish everything, you can do it!! I am doing less credits, but I am newly pregnant and my brain isn't firing on all cylinders nowadays. I have heard it gets better when you're farther along, maybe I'll add more classes then. Keep at it girl! One thing that really cut down on my study time was "how to master A&P" from Caroline porter Thomas. Watch her long vid on YouTube at empoweRN (it's the same thing I used) and it can be applied to anything except probably writing or math. I have an A in my A&P class even though I am super busy and exhausted all the time

Took 18 credit hours last semester and worked 30 hours per week. Won't do it again!! Not working at all after I start the LPN program in September
