Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?

do you know that you can do something call academic amnesty and if you had classes more than 7 years old gets completely erase from your record, you will start fresh and the new classes are the only credits counted in your GPA, if what you had 10 years ago is no good for the nursing requirements I will recommend you doing that, if you had A's in all your pre-req classes your GPA will be close to 4.0.

Hello everyone, I posted this message on another thread, I called yesterday because the woman who enters the applications in the system, told me that I could call her at the end of the month and she would tell me the minimum gpa accepted for fall; however, after calling her so many times she finally answered and said that they still have not finished the submissions to have the computer do the ranking. So if they haven't done that yet, then they must be way behind schedule. She told me that I could call her back in another two weeks. So it doesn't seem like we will be getting any mail anytime soon. I will keep you all posted when I call back.

Don't worry I am one of the ones who has a 4.0 gpa, with all prerequisites completed and I have not received any information as well. I also received the flyer for the open house May 30, but that was nothing. I beleive everyone at the college including prospective students received that.

hey everyone. I have a 4.0 gpa with all my prereq's completed. I applied to the accelerated program and still i have not heard anything. Has anyone heard anything? I called today and they told me they were behind and for the end of june the letters will be out. Good Luck to everyone and keep us updated.

Thanks Olofin1. I have indeed heard of the Amnesty policy, but I need to find out more about it from someone who knows.

I had one counselor tell me that if I did go ahead with the amnesty and they approved it they would cancel out ALL my classes during that particular time frame. That brought me to the question, what if one of the classes that will get wiped out is (for example) Engllish 101, Would I have to take that course again?

The counselor did not know.

Would you know anything about this? Or anyone on this forum for that matter? Would I have to do all my AA courses again? If anyone knows please let me know.

It just sucks that they don't take into account that some students have been out of school for years or that they messed up at first but now are on the right track. Let me just say that brining up your gpa, if it was low, is hard work. Even if you get straight A's for your next classes your mistakes haunt you. And to think that I passed my ATIs and the state boards with flying colors.

I really don't know if that specific class will be wipe out but a counselor was supposed to know an answer to that question. And yes is very difficult to bring your GPA up a c will bring it way down but no matter how many A's you have is a mission to bring it up. But I have a friend who is a surgical assistant at the hospital I work for and he got in with a 3.2 GPA this is his last semester, but he told me that he apply like 4 times until he got lucky. My problem is that at this moment I been finish with my pre-req since December last year and the time is passing if I don't get in this semester it will be a year without no school and time lost. I have so many plans for my future and I am not getting any younger. sincerely I can put everything on hold just waiting for mdc to accept me into the program. Like almost every body that waits for mdc,is difficult for me to afford any other school but if I don't get in for the fall semester I have to think about something else they told me that BCC only requires two more classes than MDC. But lets be positive and hope we get in this fall semester.

Well, I hope the budget cut won't effect the nursing program. The budget cut is actually all over the U.S.
