Anatomy and Physiology help

I am taking a 12 week summer course over Anatomy and Physiology 1. I have heard it is the hardest pre req we have to take and on top of that i went to rate my professor and apparently she is a horrible teacher! I feel like I am going to have to teach myself! So basically does anyone know of some good A&P study web sites or extra books that would help a girl out?! Please and Thank you.

I couldn't imagine having to take A&P online! I would have struggled without my mentor and the long hours I spent in the lab studying models. Here are some websites that I love so much I still refer back to them:

    1. Human Body Maps (take some time to go through this. I LOVE this site!)
Human Body Maps | 3D Models of the Human Anatomy

    2. Get Body Smart
GetBodySmart: Interactive Tutorials and Quizzes On Human Anatomy and Physiology

    3. Human Biodyssey (if you click on "HOME" it will lead you to more resources, and you can turn the music off-- click near the top of the skull)
    Skull_9DOUBLE_Mystica

    4. A list of valuable resources. Find which ones you like and will work for you:
    Medical Matrix - Anatomy

    5. Visible Body (I listed this last because you have to pay for it. I have it on my iphone and love it. But if you are just starting out, it can be a bit overwhelming)
Visible Body | 3D Human Anatomy

If you can use a lab manual for anatomy then you might want to try that. Since you have an online class, I would find a cheap one-- not the newest version. Writing things out always helped me (like tracing a drop of blood). Some people say get a coloring book. Honestly that never appealed to me. I also didn't have time to color pictures. But we all learn differently!
    I hope this helps.

A "horrible" teacher might not only relent in teaching the material, but might be horrible or stingy when it comes to your grades. He/she might also not care whether the students pass/ fail the class. Look at the type of comments that were made about him/her on rmp and consider what makes her horrible. Can you work or cope with it?
In addition some horrible instructors might also turn out to be the best instructors you will ever have. Talking out of experience (my english instructor). You might find favor in the sight of the instructor, which is what I always ask for not really minding his/her lapses.

The above sites are awesome. You might want to consider ordering a book called A&P the e-z way by Barrons. It breaks down the material for better understanding and I have heard only but good reviews about it. Got mine on Amazon.

Also find what works for you and be sure you really want to take the class now. I dropped mine during late registration coz I couldn't afford to risk taking A&P with an instructor that has no rating at all on rmp.

    Good luck

There are a few great resources for you to utilize. First, find out if you are allowed to bring in a recorder. Invaluable and great to listen to while driving to and from school or anywhere else.

Also, Khan Academy has some GREAT videos that help explain complex ideas with anatomy and physiology. YouTube is a great resource as well, but with whatever topic you are looking up, be sure to read the comments for the video. You'll find that some posters do not have accurate information.

This website, as well, is great: Anatomy and Physiology Learning Modules - CEHD - U of M Best of luck!

    I loved CRIMANDOS TUTORIALS:

    Crimando's Skeleton Tutorials

The exercises were extremely helpful with memorizing the bones (especially of the face and skull) and musculature.

If your professor doesn't advise it, I would definitely recommend a good anatomy coloring book as well.

    Good Luck!

Youtube, I repeat YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!! oh, and google images (for lab practicals, don't forget to ask if spelling counts and also most school don't give word banks, I know my university didn't)........

Also, don't listen to what you have read on ratemyprofessor.com. I saw a lot of bad comments about the doctor that was teaching my A&P I class, none of it was true. I think people who don't get the grades they wanted, use that website as a form of revenge. Most don't get the grade they wanted, because they didn't do the required studying.

I second Crimando's! In fact, my anatomy professor referred our class to those tutorials. They are great to study when the lab isn't available.

Thank y'all so much!!! Have any of y'all used a pocket A&P guide? I saw it in the "recommended" category for my text books but have been reading other comments and no one seems to bring that one up. Have any off y'all used it and liked or hated it?
