Does anyone know how much different the NET is from the PSB-RN test??? I am scheduled to take the PSB in 3 weeks. I am SO nervous. I have a study guide that was suggested by the school I am applying to (she said some have used basic SAT study guides...) and have just started studying and doing the practice ?s. I did one Vocabulary test and one math test, and let me tell ya I did not do well on either, when I thought those 2 sections would be my strong points.

So I have 3 weeks to study. Does anyone have any tips for preparing myself for this without wasting time??

Thanks so much!!

Those are some awesome links! I just took the math part and only missed 4 questions and took only 30 mins. It really stroked my ego

I took the NET on March 28th, and made a composite score of 85 all because of the predicting outcomes portion-- I scored 93 on Inferential Reading and a 100 on Main ideas, but an horrific 36 on the outcomes part! My written expression was in the high 80s and my math the mid 90s... but thanks to that 36, it drastically lowered my score. I have no idea what the devil happened there, and have decided to retake the NET May 2nd, as our school's application deadline keeps getting bumped back further and further (not enough qualified applicants) and we are able to test every 30 days. I also paid that $15 for the ERI site's practice tests, and scored phenomenal on them, so beats me why I bombed that part. Good luck to all those who have not taken it yet!

NET = Nursing Entry Test...

NLN RN, and TEAS are sort of similar entry tests, although you might find some bio and chem. on it... (sciences portion)

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for the post about the NET. I took it a few years back without any prep and didn't too well on the math portion; this lowered my overall score to a 72-a 75 was needed to pass for entry into Eastern Center for Arts & Technology.
A lot of what I've read in this thread talks about the reading portion of the test, but I really shouldn't have any problems in that area-I'm an avid reader of all types of material and my comprehension of same material is great.
Can you offer any suggestions on the math portion of the test--I did ok in math in H. S. (algebra I/II, geometry), but fractions have always terrified me & I don't fare too much better with division or percent {especially conversions in these 3 areas of math}.
Please help, I need to take the test by 8/12/08 (I want to actually take it in June or July) to get into the June '09 class; if I test after that date, it will have to be with the TEAS, and I don't want to have to buy another study guide. *You can PM me if you like**

Ok, this is what i have done with a few users, I will advise you this:
__________________________________________________ _____________
2 go to www.testprepreview.com and download and print their NET nurse entrance test, youll find it on the left hand side. then once you have it, you print it about 10 copies and staple 10 sets, they will be your everyday practice sets. now that you have done that, you will go to http://www.midland.edu/~hsd/pdf/8-NET_Test.pdf and do the exact same thing, make 10 copies and staple the sets, this is another GREAT EXCELENT exam and both of them are lets say 99% of what you need to know to score at least a 85 on your net and I GUARANTEE IT!.

3your studying schedule, first of all you are going to take the first test either one you choose, and you will solve it, take your time, try to understand, come online and post (lets ask for a sticky on this only for the net thread Huh? please all nurses!!!) well you will answer all the questions you can, and do not check yet to verify your answers, once you finish all the questions you know, you will then verify those answers, then whatever you could not solve, just come here and post the number of the questions and whether it is from plato or test prep, that i will step by step answer it and assist you.
you will then get the next NET and solve it also...and again, once you have doubts post them here and i will help you.
After doing that for 5 days, you on the weekend will go to discovery.com or any other science website and you will read about 3-5 articles, just so you can update, improve, sharpen your infra-reading skills, do dot skip this step, do that on the weekend so you can take a break on your studies and prepare for the second week.
On your second week you will start timing your self, you will give your self 1 minute per question, so total it like 60 minutes for 60 math questions! and time your self on the english part also, wich actually is the most time consuming questions.
__________________________________________________ ___________

try solving the problems, and if you cant you can PM me the problem so i can do a step by step explanation of it for you and e-mail it, so you can understend it.

If you don't know at all i will try teaching you the "how to's"

it is not hard, as long as you follow my "6 steps" you will be able within 2 weeks or so to be more then ready!
