A little bit of insight needed.

So I'm set to finish my LPN program in 9 weeks and I am planning to jump right into completing my ADN. I just have a few pre-reqs to take and I'm on track to start next September. I'm very interested in Public Health and I was thinking I would complete my ADN and instead of completing the BSN, I would complete my bachelors of Public Health. My mom told me to do whatever it is that my heart wants, but I just don't want to make any mistakes. I'm also not 100% sure if I want to become a nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant and the university I am interested in completing at offers a great public health program that prepares for continuing in either track. I know I want some type of public health background. If I was to complete my BSN, in order to have that public health background, I'd probably need to acquire a master's for that. I'd rather spend time obtaining a master's education in order to become a mid-level provider. Excuse me if I'm rambling. I know I've probably answered my own question, but any insight you all have would really help.

Let me see if I understand. You're getting your ADN, but you don't want a BSN because you think you need a master's for public health?

That's incorrect. I've met ADNs as well as BSNs that do public health. If you get a degree in public health, I'm not aware of any clinical time you can complete with that degree alone (your ADN nonwithstanding). If you want to work with patients in public health, your nursing degree would be the way to go.

A BSN will be more beneficial to you than a bachelors in public health.

There are many jobs in public health that are only open to BSNs.
