Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Yep,

Not much of a holiday break huh? It has helped me from getting out of the study habits though. No time to be lazy.

I know what you mean. I'm taking an English class right now...started on Dec. 13th. My Christmas break is Dec 22 - Jan 2nd. I go back on the 3rd - 11th. Then, I get a week off before starting A&P on the 18th.

No laziness here......now to get my hubby to believe that! :rotfl: Other than getting caught up with the laundry, I've been pretty lazy this week....Thank goodness my kiddos are home from school to help!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey all :)

I will be taking A&P I starting January 6th. I am taking other classes: English, Psychology and College Algebra :uhoh3:

Hi Nursestudentin05, and good luck to you as well! Thanks for the links, I'm going to check them out now! :)

Hi everyone,

I start Human Physiology on January 31st. Well, hopefully - I am on the waitlist as these clases are incredibly difficult to get in my area. So wish me luck! I am taking it seperately, but would have preferred the A&P I/ A&P II style if they offered it. I am nervous about taking physiology before anatomy.... should this be a concern?

Thanks!

Welcome! :) I've never heard of Physiology being offered by itself. I guess, if you try to review some of the above sites, just for basic knowlege of where different things are located, maybe it won't be so difficult.

On the other hand, it may be easier......less to learn at one time. Good luck to you!!

I'm so excited to be in this club!!! I start class the 18th. It's been 15 years since I've been in school, so I'm probably making much more of this than the rest of you younger students. What if being a mommy for five and a half years has turned my brain to mush?! :uhoh21:

I was hoping to get to the cashier's office & bookstore today to avoid the post-new year rush, but everything is closed. I was also suppose to get my residency certificate from city hall (for resident tuition rate at community college). I didn't realize today is considered a holiday....

I guess I'll spend this weekend finishing up the novel I'm reading, and finishing the matching fleece jackets I'm sewing for my daughters. Once school starts, all my craft projects will be put away!

Happy New year to all of you!

Beth

Don't worry--there are a bunch of us non-traditional students. I'm 36 and it's been 12 yrs since I was in the classroom! I have 2 kiddos- 7 & 5 yrs old. I'm sure I'll stay even busier than I already am. I was sure to finish all my crochet projects before now :) Good luck with the fleece jackets- I bet they're adorable! I was also really hoping to get my books before now, but the bookstore has been closed since the first day of break. So it's monday for me. Good Luck-- hopfully we will all have time to post after school starts:)

Welcome Montessori Mommy!! :)

I am 31. I have a 13 yr old and a 7 yr old. The 7 yr old LOVES to bug me, and she even says, "You know I'm doing that on purpose!" ...just to get on my nerves! :rotfl:

I did over hear her saying she wanted to be a nurse like mommy's going to be. So, I think she is finally understanding why I have to study so much. lol

Good luck to you!

May everyone's New Year be a great one!

Welcome to the club Montessori Mommy!

This is going to be a great club. I too am a non trad student. I am 33 years old, and have 3 daughters aged, 9, 6 1/2 and 1. You sound a lot like me, I too have been trying to finish up any craft projects that I had going but there just doesnt seem to be enough time in a day anymore. I start my classes on Jan 18th as well, and I havent gotten my books yet either. Hoping to get them on monday :) Dont worry about your brain turning to mush, you will be surprised how much your brain kicks back in to learning mode after you study for a few. Last semester was my first time back to school in years and I found that it took me a week or so to get into the swing of things and then it was all down hill from there.

So do you all know what you will be dissecting in A&P1?

I know we will be dissecting a cat, sheep brain and cow eye! We did a pig in Biology and that was so much fun. I was a little hesitant about the cat but I dont think its going to be that bad. I found the pig to be so interesting I wanted to just dig right in. I aced the practical exam, we had to pull index cards with parts on it and then show our professor where it is and what its function was. It was really neat.

Again Welcome and I hope this group will be beneficial to all!

I know we're doing a pig. I did a cat, pig, shark in vertebrate morphology (my BS is in bio) way back when. the cat was very interesting. ours was in pretty good shape without any "blown" vessels. don't know if you've ever had to dissect something with all that plastic stuff exploded all over--yucky!! I hope the pig is not too "used" I know some labs re-use specimen.

Just a couple of suggestions for everyone---buy GOOD gloves from a med supply store, not the cheapos from WalMart. They really keep that preservative smell off your hands. AND only take 1pair to wear and 1 extra in case you get a hole or something BUT don't take lots unless you're willing to share. Once people get a look at them they will all want some:) also, if you can take an extra T shirt and change before class- good idea. the smell tends to stick to your clothes.

oh yeah- the "kitchen" soaps, with lemon, you know, the ones that remove garlic and onion smells---they work great on the stink!

I just found today that one of the big instructors for A&P has a web site with tutorials, quizzes, and pics. Be sure to check on your school/faculty website for help.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

and thanks for the thread and input from everyone. I'm really motivated now and encouraged that I'm not the only MOM taking the leap.

My lab book contains the cat disection "stuff" lol.

This isn't a big deal to me. I disected a cat my senior year of high school, when I was pregnant of all things. :rotfl:

Countdown to classtime starts when the ball drops! LOL Happy New Year everyone!!

Hello to all!

I am relieved to have found you all.

As a mommy to 3 daughters ages 5,7,& 13 it's good to know I'm not in A&PI alone.

I've been looking at the sites posted and I think they will serve as a great help to us all! THANKYOU!!!

I have also been out of school for 13 years when I decided to go back. I have a bad case of "can't remember anything" but I'm very excited (and a bit scared) to be back.

Thankyou in advance for this great support system. I know we'll all need it.

I'll be sarting back Jan. 12th.........and the countdown begins

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL, I Look forward to celebrating with all of you in 16 weeks when we pass this challenge and go on to the next Copy%20of%20wink.gif
