Has anyone been back-ordered for the RODP A/P I books. I am getting nervous, still havnt received it. I am also studying the skeletal system!! It's funny, when I look at the technical term I know what it is (Pollex) Thumb-- but when I look at the word thumb, I cant think of Pollex anyone else having that problem and do you know if we have to memorize all that
Speaking as someone who just finished A&P I, I can tell you yep, you've got to memorize all that. I did it by taking the illustration from my textbook, blacking out all the words like "pollex", "calcaneal", etc. and writing them in myself, over and over, until I had them memorized. You'll find it will serve you well to memorize the early stuff like that, because when it comes to naming muscles, tendons, bones, nerves, etc., you will have a much easier time. "Oh, the calcaneal tendon? I know that must be somewhere in the area of the heel!" "The frontal bone? That must be on the forehead!" "The mental foramen? Let me look on the chin for that!"

They won't be all that easy, but lots of them are, and it makes your workload a teensier bit easy if you get the early stuff down pat. Also, practice locating organs, bones, etc. that are superior/inferior, lateral/medial, anterior/posterior, etc. to other objects. Getting the comfortable with directional language like that will also be a big help.

Don't freak out at anything I've said -- It's all in your book, and you'll get to it quickly at the beginning of the semester. Don't feel like you must learn it ahead of time in order to succeed in A&P. Good luck to you all!

I am at Ivy Tech - Columbus .....anyone near here that will be in the Saturday class?? That is what I am doing for ANP! I only took that and a math class this Spring. I have the Marieb textbook as well! I did not buy my books from the bookstore this time. I got them from Amazon. I got the 3rd Ed./Marieb (Blue cover) & the manual that has picture of skin layers on the front. I hope that is all they require. The colleges are making it harder and harder to get your books not through the bookstore. None of the ISB#'s matched up....so it's sort of a guessing game. I'm sooooo afraid to walk in their unprepared!!!
I'm at the Bloomington campus. I actually bought my ANP books from the bookstore because they had a package deal that made it cheaper than buying at least the workbook separately from Amazon. I was glad I checked that out, for sure. I bought my English comp books online though and saved about $80!

I haven't posted in a while...Maybe my last post was early November. I will be taking A&P I in the Spring. I'm so excited about this sticky...already I've found an enourmous amount of information that I think will be helpful for A&P.

It's nice to see so many of us that were lucky enough to get in this class!! I've been in the medical field for many, many years (mostly admin side) so I am also taking medical terminology. I figure they would go hand and hand and make it alittle easier to learn all of the Anatomy basics ...we shall see..

I'm taking A&P l this quarter as well. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on this question. What are the major organs of the muscular system? I would greatly appreciate it.

I took medical terminology this past semester. I really like it. I took it online. I came out with a B. It does help with A&P as well.

I have taken all online classes for my pre req's (this terminology class included) so for the first time in a long time I wil l have to drive to the campus for Anatomy. M 7:15 - 9:15 and Lab Fridays 4:00 - 10:30pm.

We can be study buddies if you like.....Its nice to see there are others who are taking both classes concurrently.
