quick question...im going to school for my BSN..possibly MSN..and want to be a NP. Im suppose to take my A&P classes next semester, but I already have 4 dual enrollment credits(for A&P 1) from my junior year in high school. Technically, i can just take A&P 2 and my credit for 1 is already fullfilled. My concern is that I forget lots of the information...will there be a review later in my my schooling orrrr do you suggest I should just retake A&P 1??? aahhh help me!

I took A&P 1 twenty years before getting an A in A&P 2. I figured that I would have enough time to figure out if I was going to be ok or I would drop before getting a bad grade. Good luck.

Well, a lot of people in my A&P 1 class were in there last semester and are taking it agian for a better grade.

Our class starts at 8AM and those people are sauntering in at 8:45 or so. Which is a distraction to those of us that care to be there.

We go to lab at 9:30 and some don't even bother to show up. I guess that is their problem.

How do they expect to pass?

What is worse is that the instructor is always saying things like.....
"ya'll should remember this from last semester"
"we went over this last semester, can anyone remember?"
"last semester we went over this so I am not going to spend as much time on it this time."

We are on the chemistry section right now, which is very confusing.
In the lab, the instructor skips around checking on people. It seems like he spends most of his time helping and joking with the ones that are there for the second time and does not have time for anyone else.

I feel as if he is catering to the ones that he know already. I am so frustrated right now. I really want to pass this class the first time around.
I'd raise my hand and politely say, "Well, would you mind explaining it for those of us who didn't take this class last semester?" I'd also talk to him later about allowing students to come in late, as it does affect you directly because it is distracting you.

Other than that, I wouldn't give two ***** about whether any of these other students are absent or pass. Who cares? Do you really want to progress through school with slackers like these anyway?

If the instructor doesn't shape up after you talk to him, or at least give you some one on one help to make sure you are getting the info you need, then I'd go to his supervisor (the department head/director, etc.)

Remember, you are a paying customer and this class is an investment in your education and ultimately your career choice. You will use it in everyday practice and you need an instructor who conducts his class as if this were true for all his students. Is he the only person who teaches A&P I...if not you may be able to switch teachers...and worst case scenario, if you don't pass then I would definitely not take him again.

My A&P teacher locked the door at 8:10am! no exceptions!

Well, at least you know who you won't be seeing in nursing school.

    Juicy Jade,
I had this same problem in Micro. I never took A&P I yet when I took Micro and my Micro teacher would always say, "as you learned in your A&P Class" ...2-3 people who had taken both A&P I & II would say, "oh yeah" and she wouldn't even explain what she was talking about. I one day actually lost it and said, "At this school A&P I and A&P II are not prerequisites to Micro so maybe the rest of the class has taken them but I haven't so I don't know what you mean when you say that" and she was terribly offended. I was scared to go back to her class and thought maybe I shouldn't have said anything but then people thanked me for saying something and after a while I think she forgot about it and ended up being really good about it. Maybe you can mention something to the prof? If you do say it in a nice way unlike what I did LOL, I wish I didn't shout it out in class in the way I did but honestly it ended up being worth it.

Honestly I think it will all come flooding back to you. Well that depends when you took your ap 1 though too I guess most schools have a cap on how long you can wait on your sciences but if its only a couple years you will be fine in 2. IMO

I am so sorry this happening to you, I have taken A&P which are taught separately at my college and also have taken Micro already. You are only allowed 1 C in the 3 sciences and can not retake the course unless you fail and only with the instructors permission. You are paying top dollar for your education and your instructor should be paying attention to those who want to learn. Our instructors were pretty brutal on those not paying attention and would kick them out of class. They also locked the doors so those who were late could not get in. It was great!
    Good luck to you all!
