Congrats for getting thorough A&P I. I am currently re-taking it after dropping it in the Spring. Do you have any tips for studying. I work 40 hours a week and have a 3 year old and 16 month old. Any advice would help tremendously!!
Flash cards, flash cards and more flash cards! Not the kind you buy either. I make flash cards out of my notes...I think just making questions out of the notes helps my understanding a lot. I get the cards with the little metal rings through them (I use Mead Ringdex....but anything that stays together is good) and I keep them in my pocket all the time. That way I can use all that wasted time standing in line or waiting for an appointment to quickly study.

I don't have kids, but I did work 37+ hours a week while taking a full academic load while keeping a 4.0 GPA.

    Best of luck!!

    Peace,
    Cathie

Personally....I use lots of caffeine to stay focussed and dedicated The thing I don't do though is look at the big picture.....if I thought about how much more school I need, there are times I would be overwhelmed with that. So I just foccus on what I'm studying now and what I'll need for the next two weeks or so.

    Best of luck!!

That is very true. I think about "What if I don't get through this class? , I'll never get into a Nursing program." And it drives me crazy . I just got an email from a friend of mine that I haven't talked to in a few years, not since we were in English I together and she just passed her state board exam and is now offically a nurse. Even though I'm very happy for her I can't help but to be a slight envious. I mean, we were just in English together and now she's a nurse and I'm still struggling through A&P!

Who is your instructor? I had Matt Courtney at the Ivy Tech - Valpo campus. He was THE BEST! Made everything SO easy to understand.

I start ANP 102 tomorrow. I found the instructor's Powerpoint notes online and started printing them off. 80 pages for the first chapter, 55 for the second, and so on. I'm starting to panic. Is it possible to get an A (which I have to get to make it into nursing school) in an 8 wk class that appears to cram in more material than the 16 wk course I just finished? I did great in ANP 101 but I studied constantly. I won't have half as much time for this class. I'm thinking maybe I should wait and take it this Fall so I'll have the full 16 wks. Of course, that means I can't apply to the Spring '08 RN program and I'll have to wait until that Fall. Any advice?

I have Bonnie Overton at Ivy Tech Bloomington. Her class is supposed to be a lot tougher than all the other ANP teachers. I won't really know what to expect until I take the first test. Maybe then I'll have some kind of idea what her exams are focusd on.

I think the lab part of ANP 102 is harder than ANP 101. It seems like the microscope slides are a lot harder to figure out. I can't tell what I'm looking at. However, lecture seems to make a lot more sense than last semester. Does anyone remember what they had to identify for Digestive Anatomy?

i am kinda surprised that people already are registered for classes the college i will be attending isn't having open registration until early august i think

We had to identify digestive organs on a fetal pig and their tissues under the microscope. Let me know if you need any help in those areas.

Well today was officially my last day. I have a B in the class which I expected. I'm glad I survived actually because I was taking American History and Math (algebra, trig, and geometry) with this course. Next time I will NOT take 3 classes, at the same time during the summer....yeesh LOL.

I took 3 classes during the summer session too. Wont do that again. One of em was A&P2. Just finished my 5th Unit exam on the Endocrine and Reproductive Systems.. It was a lil tough but I think I pulled through. Some of the essay questions sometime get me b/c I can't always explain something from start to finish. Like compare/contrast Spermatogenosis with oogenesis. The Endocrine system was a bit hairy too.. with all the hormones and target cells.. etc.. But my final is on Monday and my prof. is the same one as A&P1. She has told us that the Final is everything from the 4 unit exams which we keep, correct and do an exam analysis on. Can't wait to finish up with this tho. Then onto Microbiology, College Algeb & Psychology.
