Just wanted to start a "club" for those of us who are taking A&P 1 this fall.

My class is 16 weeks. I have lecture on M/W/F for one hour each day and lab on Tues for 3 hrs.

My teacher for lecture & lab (same person) is awesome! She gives us a weekly quiz, drops the lowest one. Gives us extra credit. Four major tests. Final is comprehensive. (Ick)

She gave us handouts for chapter 1 and we just fill in what we want as she pretty much has everything she wants in these handouts. She told us we don't have to bring our big, heavy book to class - she'd tell us page numbers of tables, pictures she wanted us to know. As a matter of fact - she said we don't have to use the book that was sold to us for this semester. She said we could use any book like Saladin, etc., and make copies if any diagram, table is different. Pretty nice there.

Okie dokie - who else?

Wow, we aren't doing any dissections as far as I know. It almost makes me feel like we aren't learning as much as you all! :(

Well at this point I wish we weren't doing a disection we are doing the Cat for Muscles and its really HARD! I can't tell what any of the muscles are and we have no direction what so ever, here is your cat here is a list of what you need to find and good luck.

Next semester we do a sheep eye ball and a cow brain fun fun fun. We don't discect the Cadavar our Lab guy does it for us but we can look thru it whenever we want everything is discected out and labeled so we can study the muscles on him.

someone please help I have a practical coming up next thursday on the Muscles. Could someone offer some advice on how to learn the Orgin Insetion and Action.

Memorize thats the only thing I can think of our, Practical on muscles isn't until the 17th of november I have only just begun gathering my information. WE have out bone practical next weekend. So far thats been my favorite assignment.

my goodness I really hate the muscles. luckliy we only have to know about 5-7 questions on O,I,A for the practical, So I made some flash cards. Wish me luck. Oh yeah we have to be able to identify the muscles on the cadaver.

oh boy you are so lucky you peeked my curiosity so I just went to look to see what we needed to know.

96 muscles i/o and names for the practical

Then we have 56 muscles we need to know on or Cadaver

56 muscles we discet out our selves on the Cat

The only suggestion I have is to learn it one muscle at a time. Do you have to know all of the origins/insertins/actions, or just the main ones. If you look at it all at once, you are going to be overwhelmed. Look at where the muscle is in the body. There is a website ( http://www.getbodysmart.com/ap/muscularsystem/menu/menu.html ) that has really helped me out in A&P. Check it out, and feel free to email if you need more help!!

I will take your advice, I took my time the last few days to really study, we have to learn all the origin, inserions, and actions because we don't know which one's we will be questioned on. Thanks and wish me luck.

This is my first semester of A&P and I am losing my mind. This is my instuctors first class. She is from Nariobi and we can barely understand her. She is always late. Also she is completely unorganized and indecisive. She lets people retake tests and gives the answers while they are taking it.EX. We just had our mid-term which I studied for 17 hours on over the weeked. I did very well getting an 86% The second highest grade in the class. She let everyone who didn't pass retake the exam with only 20 questions and then proceeded to give them the answers. I now have the lowest grade on the exam. I can't take this but I only have 7 weeks left. Everything I have learned I have had to learn on my own. Any study tips on how to get through the rest of the semester. We are starting the musculature system I think but then again we never know.:uhoh3:

I am really sorry your semester is not going as planned, I have had semesters and teachers like that myself its so frustrating. I don't really have any advice except to prepare and study as much as you can, I use the internet alot my text book and my text books website, I take quizes and tests online and try to realy make sure I understand the physiology part of whats happening. I hope you can take someone different for 102 and will enjoy it more.

I will add though the teachers I have had like that are the classes I have learned the most in, because the info is not spoon fed you tend to retain it and learn it better when you research and do it on your own.

not helpful I know for the GPA but will take you further as you go on having a solid understanding.

Wow, I would be running to the the Academic Dean's office. That is not fair. I would let an administrator know ASAP. Usually, when a professor lets people retake a test...you can only make up a certain amount of points. The way your teacher is doing it, they should let everyone re-take the test. Watch out for yourself and others after you...
