Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?

Ok, complement aids antibodies in 4 actions....

~Neutralizing microbes by covering active sites, immobilizing, and agglutination

~Opsonize

~Lyse microbes with complement. Lyse parasites with eosinophils.

~Cause Inflammation

Complement is made in the liver.

I hope that helps!!!

Ok. I am going to print this off and study it. I am just so frustrated, and knowing my exam is tomorrow doesnt help. Thanks Diva!!!

Let me ask you, because the section that I was reading from mentioned chemotaxis in the same section as initiating complement. I really wasnt refering to cytotoxic cells at all. I know those are T-cells. I really do not think I am learning near what I did from A&P 1 and I know it is the different methods the instructor uses, and I cannot pay attention to what he is saying while I am copying those stupid outlines. :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire Others in my class are saying the same thing. What is your understanding of the complement issue. You seem to be learning a lot more than I am.

Thanks.

Ok, i hope this will make sense.

Compliment are plasma proteins, ever present and ready to do their job, they are like a landmine in your plasma. It assists antibodies in the destruction of pathogens. It covers the pathogens and makes them very tasty for the macrophages which then eat up the pathogens. Diva used that fancy term opsonization ( I hope I spelled that right)

Complement undergoes an enzyme cascade and works in nonspecific and spedific immunity.

There are two pathways, the classical and the alternate. the most rapid activation occurs in the classical pathway.

Compliment also punctures cells using perforin (I am sorry I misunderstood since CD8's function similar)

See, my instructor admitted that he was not 100% familiar with this particular subject (lymphatics and immunity) because everything he reads tells a different story. So, he was pretty basic with us about the whole thing.

Yes, your explanation makes perfect sense. You and Divamom were a great help to me.

Thank you both so much. I cant sleep because I am so uptight, and feeling like I am not learning what I need to know doesnt help any at all.

Thanks again.

You're welcome hon!

I can't sleep either! My sinuses are going nuts and I am reviewing a few more things. Our study group went well, though. I hope you get some sleep!!!

I am always very worked up before a test, too.

Before my first lecture test I got up totally early and get this....I scrubbed my kitchen!!!! We have an all white kitchen and I wiped everything down with bleach solution, now is that crazy or what!?!?! Well, the kitchen needed scrubbing and it helped me cope with my anxiety at that time.

I hope that you will get some rest. Dress warm in the morning it's supposed to be in the 40's. Make yourself a nice cup of hot chocolate before bed.

Good luck and you will hear me whine on Thursday since we will have lecture test 2 on Friday.

Are we a great study group or what?????

We are one heck of a study group ;)

Hope you feel better and good luck.

Yes ma'am! I am loving this group! :p Thank you! I popped some tylenol sinus, so hopefully I'll feel better shortly!!

Well, I think it would be awsome to be in a study group with people from other schools. At least that way we are dealing with different teaching methods. That's

Popping Tylenol, :lol2: I guess you could say I'm guilty too. I popped a couple of Tylenol P.M.s I still had fits getting to sleep. And awake at 4:45. :o

I accidentally skipped right by this post. I am sure you will do just fine on your exam. We have a veins/artery exam Wednesday in lab, but I am not worried about that one.
