My school is known for screwing up! They have literally made me kry MANY times for messing up with my registration and financial aid. and i'm not even exaggerating. so I'm waiting for the final notification from HRSA that my school submitted everything and then I will finally be at peace. Either than or I see a good $$$ number in my bank account. hah.

hey everyone! congrats on receiving the scholarship! so I just got off the phone with HRSA customer service and i do have to say this whole process is incredibly confusing and frustrating. the woman i spoke with gave me wrong information regarding the ORC payment for 10 minutes then finally looked into my questions further and responded with basically reading information off of the website that i've been looking at for months!!! let's just say that was the most unhelpful phone call ever! so it's my understanding that the ORC information is obtained from the school directly by the NSP and we don't have to do anything for that...no invoicing, no receipts, etc.... perhaps they look it up on their websites or call the school, i'm not sure, but this is the information that i've come to piece together from unhelpful phone calls and website information! does anyone have any other information regarding this? my student accounts contact said they only deal with tuition and whatnot and not ORC.... i can't wait until this is all sorted out!!!!! thanks for any input!!!

i'm not too sure, but the lady that is handling all my HRSA information at my school is actually submitting all the information for the ORC regardless. She and I went over the checklist to see what is considered eligible/ineligible. Maybe she isnt supposed to, but she is going out of her way to make sure I have no trouble with the HRSA and the funds they are going to give me.

I met with my school financial aid person today. She said that if she can't invoice for the ORC, she can't provide the info, and that if she does invoice for it, it would get paid to her, not me. I showed her the invoicing and ORC instructions, but basically she said she was going to call my HRSA Rep in Washington DC (I'm in CA, so on the "Silver Team" ?) and talk to her about it.

I explained that our books were a bundle, and our uniforms, and some other fees are standard fees that can be verified with the School of Nursing. My program also requires a laptop and certain color shoes and other supplies and I spent about $3600 on all that (with books), so I don't know how that's going to work. :(

Also, she told me that twice, people at my school who got awards were later denied funding for various reasons, some because HRSA decided after the award that their program was a bridge program (dual degree), or that they didn't qualify for some other reason. And she tried to tell me that they were going to reimburse my loans to me, and when I explained (again) that no, they were supposed to pay my tuition up front, she said, "Oh this must be a different program than I've seen before." Holy cow. :(

I tried to return my loan refund so that my loans can get returned and cancelled, and she refused it and said that we better wait and make sure I'm actually going to get money. :( I hope when she talks to the Rep it gets sorted, and she doesn't disqualify me somehow. I'm so nervous now!

Ok, so here is what I know:

1. The 1800 number cannot help us. I called yesterday and the man I spoke with told me they don't have access to our accounts and that we should either email the HRSA or click on 'ask a question' through our portal. He said all they can do at the 1800 number is read us the information we already have

2. We all seem equally confused on how they get our info for ORC. It seems that other people (like myself) were told by the school they don't bill for that. I sent them an email about this issue to HRSA and received this response :

"NSP already has the ORC information from your school. The pre-determined amount will be paid to you in October with your (Jul – Oct) stipend. You do not need to submit anything at all in order to receive this payment".....I don't know if that is just from MY school, or if somehow they already have ORC info for everyone.

3. I have no clue how they got my ORC- the woman from my school definitely did not give the HRSA that info...so maybe HRSA is finding out our ORC some other way ?

4. There is going to be a webinar in October. They will email us the time and date. We can ask questions during the webinar.

5. This is extremely confusing.

6. We are all terrified that something is going to get screwed up between our school and the HRSA and our money will go away before it ever comes haha

I tried to return my loan refund so that my loans can get returned and cancelled, and she refused it and said that we better wait and make sure I'm actually going to get money.

hey she has GOT to refuse those loans if you request it! the program won't pay if the loans are on there (according to the paperwork I've seen) go above her head if she won't do it.

Hey maybe some of you have had the same thing happen.........somehow the HRSA changed my school address. it's the same school but they have the Indianapolis address (which is the main campus) and my campus is in Fort Wayne, Indiana (several hours away from Indy) today I'm meeting with the school invoicing lady and hopefully she will know if that was something ok or not, but has anyone had that happen? and if so what did they do?

thanks!

After typing in the regular Facebook dot com address, use backslash groups backslash HRSA.NSP.12

just went to page and requested to be added:)

Ok Everyone, I have some slightly disturbing news about the ORC payment. I talked to the head of my accounting dept, as well as HRSA and my advisor. The ORC payment is already SET!! Back before we were ever awarded the scholarship (months ago) HRSA sent our schools a form that they needed to fill out with our estimated tuition and ORC (basically the fees etc.. associated with our programs) HRSA told me that they base ORC off what the school submitted then. So the tablet I had to buy for the pharm and drug apps that we had to purchase, and the immunizations, titers, doctors fees etc.. that I payed out of pocket are not in that ORC payment. The only way that we can get those extra things paid for is by talking directly to our case workers, submitting that information and having him/her approve those extra costs. So those extra costs we have to submit ourselves might not be paid at the same time as the lump sum payment. I am freaking out. I have no insurance and paid $500 out of pocket for immunizations and then another $600 for a tablet and software. This process really requires a lot of hands on work and serious attention to detail on our part.

Disturbing!!! Thank you for solving the ORC mystery....How would we get the info of what the school provided so we can see if we were shorted?
