2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.

I did not mean my post to cause people to become upset.

But unless the process changed, the six items I listed are what is used to score applications. Yes, they may see that you uploaded a supporting document, but in the previous cycle it wasn't used for scoring. The only thing I could see changing is your Resume/CV being used to score, possibly since it is a change from the previous cycle.

It never hurts to do some research on things and you'd be surprised what you can discover on the internet and simply by asking questions.

Or by just looking at the Application and Program Guide PDF. Yes, Resume/CV is one of the deciding factors. But I wasn't upset by your post :)

Thanks Soon2benurse25 for checking. Did you submit something for supporting documents too?

I was referring to the Resume/CV actually being used for scoring.

This was the scoring rubric per say for the previous cycle:

I'm not upset. I was just trying to find out how you got your information, which I think is valid considering the fact that you seemed so certain about how they will score applicants. Thanks for the link.

I did, and I think that part of the application should be removed if it will essentially be deleted or not considered when looking at the application. Just my opinion.

Just wondering if someone will be willing to post a copy of one of their essay they wrote. I will be willing to share what I have done as well.

Does anyone know if you are choosen for the scholarship it is possbile to find out before August 31st? My program starts June and I owe 10,000 dollars. I know they will not distribute the money till November buy my school said that would be fine as long as I accepted the scholarship.

I cannot give a definite answer, but based on previous cycles I would not expect to hear anything before the end of August- possibly later due to delays! If your school needs the money you can take out an additional student loan and have it repaid once receiving the scholarship as long as it is strictly being used for eligible tuition and fees-- this can get to be a sticky situation though from what I've heard some previous recipients of the scholarship.

X-Nurse thank you. I hope it is not a sticky situation because my summer semester is 15,000 for two months and I was hoping I would be reimbursed for it. But I guess I will wait and see thanks again.

I would contact the Help Desk and explain the situation specifically. I believe the problem came down to recipients expecting to be reimbursed for the total cost, but they didn't take into account that it is only reimbursement for tuition and fees after any financial aid.

Ohh I see thank you. I pretty sure they just reimburse you for tuitions and fees that is all im looking for I will be so grateful for that!! Keeping my fingers crossed because I was told last year that a 100 people from my school received the scholarship.

That's probably not true. On their site it says I think 450 people got the scholarship... I would think they wouldn't pick 25% from one school...
