ok, well technically I got 108 because there were 4 questions (8 pts) that most people got wrong--so we get those points!

Ugh. Why is is that I seem to be the only one who never gets any extra credit? None of my classes offer any, no matter what.

I am sorry in advance... I just need to scream and vent about my micro professor. I cannot stand her! We had an exam today covering infection and disease as well as immune response. I took awesome notes at about a gazillion WPM getting all the overheads as well as what she said. I taped lectures, I made note cards, I reviewed all of the above a bazillion times over and was confident and excited about the exam, especially seeing as I got 95 % on my quiz covering the same material 2 days ago.

I knew I was in the wrong room when I hit this question...." Mr blank is a 64 yr old man who presented in the ER with nausea and exquisite tenderness of the abdomen. The doctors performed exploratory surgery and recovered fluid from his abdominal cavity. upon culturing you expect to find _______ bacteria" Did we cover this type of thing at all in even a slight brushing or tapping way? NO! and it went on with half the test being over this patients care including isolation due to his draining surgical wound, white stuff growing in his nose etc. We had to identify each bacteria and where it came from with no more info than" he is dripping fluid from his wound"" there is white stuff in his nose" etc.

I studied the compliment system, the inflammatory response, epidemiology, virulence, prevalence, ID50, cytokines, phagocytes... that kind of stuff. Everyone walked out of there with deer in the headlights looks, even our supersmart "I ace everything crew"

I am sooo upset, I think I will get a D if lucky on this exam and I studied my butt off and KNEW the material we were told we were responsible for. I really want some of what she was smoking when she wrote up this exam! Make it hard.... FINE, But PLEASE make it on things you at least attempted to teach us or cover in class or tell us we should just go look up on the internet for cripes sake!:angryfire

My A&P teacher operated like that....I fully understand your frustration! We have a separate case study exam next Thursday and had some similiar things on this last test....but at least she told us in advance and it wasn't anything that we didnt talk about in class. I am sorry you have to go through this, hang in there, you might have done better than what you think.

Ontheroad, I'm sorry you are going through that. But really, if it really is that bad and pretyt much everyones gets Ds or Fs on that exam, maybe you can complain to the head of the department. Professors like that really need a kick in the butt.

I may or may not wait to see how people did on the exams, but I think the head of the department really needs to get a look at one of her exams along with a copy of notes from lecture (maybe even a copy of the lecture tapes if he wants to spend the time listening). We are officially on spring break now, so I may have to wait till a week from monday to get in there... if so, that gives me time to prepare.

Good luck with that, it wouldn't do any good at our school. They've done the same thing since the War of 1812 and it will continue until the professor eventually dies of natural causes at the age of 100+. 20 more years for the poor A&P students, my teacher is about 80 and is very fit because he plays basketball with his buddies.

I'm just popping in to say I'm very happy because yesterday I got a 10/10 on my micro lab quiz, after changing my study techniques! Yay, yay, YAY!

    Have a good weekend y'all!

Hey one can dream! We had a chem professor that lasted 3 semesters because people didn't like her and didn't want to study. I can say for her that she was aproachable and she did cover everything on her exams in class (she even made her overheads available for students to copy so they didn't really even have to take notes). This semester is this professors second semester so she is still considered a visiting professor and NOOOOO tenure. If I cannot make a difference in how she is teaching or not teaching us... I will just have to tar and feather her at the end of the semester right?

I hope that your school takes care of the situation, at least it looks like there is hope that they will. Hang in there and good luck
