Anyone having any luck with A&P I online? I'm taking my class online, as I live 40 miles from the school. I'm doing ok so far, but I can't seem to get in touch with the professor. The labs are written for the classroom students, so there is some question as to what exactly I have to do. I'm not sure if I need to go to the Science Learning Center and do the labs, attend an actual lab class, or do nothing. I've emaild this professor several times regarding this. I don't mind attending lab class at all, I just need to figure out where I can work it in my schedule as I am a mother of 3 and a full time college student.

Last night was my 2nd class and we covered all of chapter 2. We cover a chapter a night. Chapter 2 was on chemistry and it seriously covered all of what I learned in Chem last semester in one chapter. If there are any people in my class who haven't had Chem before I do not know how they will make it. This class is crazy!! I want to cry.

Wow...I just got home from my first night of class and all I can say is holy s&%$ !!! I consider myself a decent student and I'm scared out of my mind. I'm glad we're all here to support each other...

Right there with ya ! I am book smart, and in other classes I haven't had to study as much as my classmates, but Holy Cow. I feel like my brain doesn't have room for all the memorization that Anatomy requires !

Hi guys! I just found this site and A&P I is the first pre-req I'm taking as I return back to school. My class is using Saladin's Unity of Form & Function and I just had my first exam today actually. So far the lecture course seems manageable but I have a separate teacher for lab and I really don't like the format of her class. I know I'll just have to put in lots of studying and do a lot of independent learning. It's nice to find a support group here

Welcome. I am using the same text book as you. We are on chapter 2 but have not had a test yet. Its going to be on the first three chapters. Lecture is great for me too but I have the feeling that lab is going to kick my butt, and I have the same teacher for both. What are you doing in lab right now?

I am really glad that some of us are using the same book. That will make it a little eaisier to help each other out.
What are you guys doing in class right now? We are doing Chem in lecture and microscope slides in lab.

My textbook is by Martini. So far we have done chapter one, which was fairly easy, anatomical landmarks, directional terms, etc. THEN we did chapters one and two, cells and tissues. There is SO much information to memorize. Why am I on this message board? I should be memorizing!

We finished chapter two yesterday and will do chapter 3 tomorrow. I have lab tomorrow and it looks like we are doing lab 3 (care and use of the microscope) and lab 7 (epithelial tissues). So it seems we are moving at the same pace. Our first exam is scheduled for 2/6 on chapters 1-4 and we have weekly quizzes on the lab and lecture to be sure we are keeping up with the material.

    Back to studying!

My lecture and lab classes are on different tracks. Our exam was on Chapter 1 & 2 (mainly Ch. 2 info) and we have another one in 3 weeks on Ch. 3 & 4.

I've only had 2 lab classes so far - I work fulltime days so all I could get was a once a week 3 hour class. The first class we went over the course outline, anatomical terms, & cell structure and practiced using the microscope. This week we went over mitosis, the cell cycle, different types of tissues and looked at slides. I am really dreading trying to distinguish the different tissues -- looking in the book is one thing, but on the slides it's so different plus she sounds like she's going to be tricky. The first day she told us she has a 50% failure rate and after seeing her teaching style I am starting to see why.

hey you guys, nice to hear that some are to a good start, and for the others my sympathies are with you. well my first two days of classes have gone by fairly good. my professor is great, very cool and not scary. we are using Hole's edition for a&p. is anyone else? our first exam is nxt weds. but just on ch. 1, definitions, positions, and other relatively easy subjects. the one i'm iffy about is the lab practical, the labs lists are just long- so many words to know and remember. lets wait and see if my mind can hold itself together.
hope everybody does well on their upcoming first exam or has done well if already taken one.

well tomorrow is my first real test...we've had 2 quizzes and i've done great on those. I'm not to worried, but there's always that little bit of fear. Our test is over Ch 1 & 2 and our profs notes that he makes for us....off to the bookstore to go study...I just seem to tempted to do other things if i stay at home.....usually it's not a problem...but I guess it's b/c I'm not feeling very good

Well, I am so glad to see that you are doing good in Torres' class. I like my micro teacher and I am also off to a very good start
Good luck on your test and maybe we will see each other at the bio study center sometimes.
