Hello, I am anticipating many changes in the health care field in the next five years so I decided to pursue my Master's in FNP. I have one year to go and my concerns do not lie in running the business but more so in the lack of experience as a FNP. I really would like to find a mentor to point me in the right direction. Currently, I am entertaining the idea of a fellowship or post grad certification but I am looking at all which is available and feel like I am standing at a buffet bar, not knowing where to start. I do not like to experiment or re-invent the wheel. I love the idea of conservative care (no meds-chiro) but just don't know where to look or who to ask. In other words, I do not want to do "trial and error" at my patient's expense....know what I mean?

The person said that for many somethings, you will just have to be a NP to experience and develop your skills. I was encouraged after that because I have been a nurse for just over two years and I'm applying this fall. So go for it. Many programs will require you to find a your own preceptor anyway. Go for it! You will need and get a lot of on the job training after you graduate.
Best of Luck to you!
