Frontier Nursing University

Nursing Students NP Students

I am looking to do my FNP program through Frontier Midwifery University/Frontier Nursing University since I love that its main emphasis is women's health and I've always been drawn to that specialty. I've been reading around and seeing that many are saying the program is tough but oh so worth it. How is this program considered "tough"? Is it tough because of the amount of reading/work that is required? The number of assignments? The projects? The demands? Can you please elaborate?

I am looking to apply to begin in 2013 and have been looking at this school since I graduated with my BSN. My only question is whether I will be able to adequately manage my time between full time work as an RN (which I now have my year of experience in med-surg/onc), my two younger children (beginning elementary years) and then Frontier part time..... Is it possible or will I be sacrificing something? Yes, I understand I won't have nearly add much free time add I do now, but I also don't want to sacrifice too much....

One last question: What is the workload like during a typical week for part time (2 classes)? How many hours of reading? How many hours of assignments? Studying? Etc. Also, once the clinical portion starts, How many hours per week is required and is it possible to continue to work full time during that portion?

Thank you!

Does anyone know if students from Utah can attend Frontier University Online? I have been having a hard time finding online programs that will accept Utah students for some reason!

I suggest you give them a call. I know for awhile students from NC could not apply & I am not sure if that has changed. Give them a call & they will give you a straight answer. Good Luck & I hope you attend FNU because they have an awesome program.

I have several cohorts from Utah in my class, so my guess would be yes, but it's always best to check with the university. In fact, as far as I know FNU is now accepted in all 50 states for both the MSN and DNP tracks.

Hi bkshoeMSN,

You stated that you're from NY. How was it finding clinical sites and was it difficult getting job offers with your degree from Frontier? Did you need to use their preceptor database and was it helpful? Thanks

I had no problems finding preceptors or a position. Frontier provides you with a strong foundation.

I have applied to FNU for the November enrollment. Do you have any tips on studying? I'm also worried I might not get avcepted. Any advice?

All I can say is---you won't have a life while you are in the program------Your family must be supportive. Get a calendar and at the start of each term- write down your due dates for every assignment so you won't forget them or be late with them

Thanks BKSHOE I have a master's in nursing education 8 years experience with ER, DERM experience. My GPA from grad school was a 3.9. Do you think I'll be accepted

I sure don't think you will have a problem. Good luck!! I loved the FNU program. You will be prepared!

I know this is an old post but how long did take you to complete the program.

How long did it take you to do clinicals since you cut back on work? And how long did entire program take you? I know their website says 2 years but i was not gonna work when i do an fnp program, but i wanted to choose one that isnt 2 years long..was wondering if they would let me do clinicals 4-5 days/week and finish a few months sooner?

Thanks for any info you can give!
