Confused about necessary background...

Hello!

I am looking into NP programs after working in pedi home care for 1.5 years. I really think I would enjoy working inpatient, and particularly in a cardiac or neuro specialty. Would it be in my best interest to obtain an ACNP vs. FNP? Also, with no formal acute care experience (although I do have experience with vent and trachs) will I even be employable in those areas?

Just a bit confused.
