Any UAB NP students/graduates? - Page 9

Hi Everyone. Update here...I just called UAB's SON and they stated that the committee was SUPPOSED to meet last week to pick the candidates for the Fall 2011 program and they did NOT meet. The lady stated they are meeting at the end of THIS week and that we should then hear in approx 2-3 weeks. I know, not what I wanted to hear either but at least it gives us an idea and we aren't checking the mail like crazy right now expecting something! Let's hope we all got in!

Thanks so much for the update erin801. That's a bummer to learn that they weren't able to meet last week, but I've been patient this long so I can handle waiting a bit more I guess. I recieved an e-mail last Thur.s that let me know that my application was complete so I just assumed that they were done reviewing everything and that I would hear something soon. Maybe the process won't take too much longer. From previous posts, I've read that once the applications were reviewed, the letters were usually recieved pretty quickly. Hopefully it will be the same for us. Well, fingers crossed and wishing us all good luck.

Thanks for keeping us posted, erin801. Although it's not the news I was hoping for, at least I know not to be chomping at the bits everyday when I go to the mailbox. Hopefully we will all get our acceptance letters before too much longer. Let us know if you find out anything else.

Just something to keep in mind since they are being extra slow this year, you might want to make a Dr. appt for early July if it might take a while to get in. You have to have a medical clearance form filled out and turned in along with all of the vaccine and TB stuff in order to register for classes. The student health office gets completely overwhelmed trying to process everyone's stuff at the last minute, so the early you get it in the more likely you are to be able to register for classes before they start and while there are still open spots.

Thanks for the advice Annaiya. I didn't think about that. Will make my appts. tomorrow. Any other advice?? Do we get the medical clearance forms from the school, or do we bring copies of our physical?

UAB has a form you have to get filled out by your HCP. I don't think you can access that stuff until you have been accepted. But it's good to have the appointment set up already.

Just curious if anybody has gotten a letter yet. On the other forums, it looks like nobody has gotten one yet and that the deadline for mailing the letters keeps getting pushed back.

I haven't received anything yet :-( The wait is getting quite ridiculous!

I was told today by the SON office that letters would be mailed next week and should be received on or around the 15th of July. However, since every week they say by the end of next week, we'll just have to wait and see if it actually happens this time.

I agree that it's totally insane that we haven't heard anything yet. Classes start Aug. 16. It's frustrating to NOT know anything at this point. This means that those of us that get in have less than a month to get all financial aid paperwork, physical paperwork, and whatever else they require. This is in addition to our work and family responsibilities (children starting back to school, etc.)....
