usf crna prgoram

If anyone has been accepted to the USF CRNA program, I'd really appreciate some tips on what they look for in applicants. I've been working in MICU for about 1.5 years and hope to get accepted there...Any info. would be helpful! Thanks.

I know they require 2 years of experience, which I'm still in the process of earning as well. I've asked about them here before, and no one has ever answered. They're a new program with very small classes though, so maybe there's just no one who goes there who posts. I did meet with the director a year or so ago (I signed up to do so at a USF CRNA booth at a career fair) and she gave me a little bit of advice. She strongly recommended having at least one year of cardiac surgical ICU experience at a high acuity hospital, first of all. Otherwise she just talked about having a great GPA, studying for the GRE, and she told me that there are a few classes that I could take before starting the program to make the load a little lighter the first year. Good luck!

Hey,
Just got accepted into USF CRNA program to start this Aug. I have 9 years CVICU experience, scored 1210 on GRE and GPA 3.46. I know I was one of the stronger applicants as I know someone who got in with 3.15 GPA and 4 yrs open heart experience with 910 on GRE. They are big on open heart experience which I tend to agree with as you are exposed to so much hemodynamic.. stuff. You can take a directed reading and research class as well as bio statistics at the graduate level prior to entry which will reduce your 1st semester from 15 to 9 credit hours. You just cant replace experience.... unfortunately. Where are you from? Best of luck. I hope you get in, if not usf at least somewhere.
