NP to CRNA???

Hi everyone,
I really would like some advice on this dilemma. I have been a RN for 16 years and 11 of those years have worked (mostly PEDS) as a nurse practitioner. My certification is FNP and I have worked PICU, NICU, ED, Peds Clinic(majority of my career) and now in a retail clinic. Trouble is that I have never enjoyed my NP role. Years ago I had applied and got into CRNA school (a couple of them) but due to family/location/cost ended up going to NP school instead. I have my MSN now but have always regretted not pursuing CRNA-I have always loved the critical care role so much more than the primary care.

So, my life is totally changed now and I don't know if going back would even be possible. I have 5 children so it would have to wait a bit until they are a little older which may be fine since I would like to get back into either ED or critical care first. I am also older now(almost 40-- ouch!) and really don't have a clue if that is just too old to go back. Is there anyone out there who can relate to this situation and if so what have you done? I have contacted the program director for the school I would like to attend but haven't gotten much of a response. I know they are very busy though.

I am just looking for advice/experiences at this point. My kids are my top priority, obviously, so I have to make sure I get as much info as possible before I move on anything. Thanks so much in advance!
