Case Western CRNA interviews for 2011

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello,

Wondering if anyone else has received a letter from Case stating that they will be contacting them in the future to schedule an interview with their anesthesia dept for the class starting 2012? The letter arrived at my home on Sept. 13th and I'm still waiting for the phone call to set up an interview date.

Interview is done. I feel it went real well. No math questions got me. Did get a couple clinical questions after I was asked what type of patients I take care of in my current icu. Thank goodness I prepared and was able to answer them. We talked about one of my shadowing experiences. I shadowed during an open heart case. They asked what med they use when puting someone on bypass......Heparin. But I blanked when they asked what med is used to reverse it. Totally know that it's protamine sulfate, but I blanked. Oops! They also asked some generic questions like why did you pick CRNA over another adv practice nursing degree? They were all very nice and made me feel very comfortable. Said I should hear something by end of the year. Hope it's good news

I think mine went okay too, but Im not sure because they didnt really ask much. They asked one clinical question and that was it. No math question. The rest were questions like what type of patients do I take care of, what type of icu lol I expected to be drilled, but that wasn't the case. Everyone was really nice. i just pray I get accepted!!Good luck Futuresrna. Ill keep you all posted. Ill be harrassing the mail man until I get the letter.

hi trav2CRNA

seems like you know about case , I am guessing u either work or go 2 school at case.

I was wondering if you would give me an honest opinion .

If most of the interview went well and the applicant messed up on 1 simple math question because he/she was very nervous , do u think i even stand a chance ? i feel like an idiot . as soon as i walked out of the room , i knew the answer . my brain just frooze and all i could think was they are probably thinking i was stupid and rather than focusing on solving the problem.

i have good gpa , good gre and good experience but i froze on the most simplest question ....

I would not worry about that. Everyone in that board room knows you are nervous. If you aren't nervous, that would be a problem. I guarantee 99% of the applicants freeze-up when they ask those math questions. I did it too. I felt like the biggest moron when I left that room. The one thing I like about Case and their interview process is that they take the whole picture of the person and not one little dinky thing such as a math problem. Good luck and don't worry about that. It's not just you that feels that way!

Is the CCRN an unwritten requirement for acceptance?

I would say most of my classmates do have the CCRN. If you don't, at least tell them in the interview you are studying to take it and have your test date scheduled. It's not that you won't get in without it but having it can't hurt you, go take it and prove you will do anything for this acceptance!!

Has anyone interviewed for Case Western this year? Any info is greatly appreciated!

I have an interview coming up for Case in a couple weeks (alternate). Anyone have any advice on how the interviews went this year? Clinical or math questions?

thanks!!!
