years of experience for NP program

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Do you think a year of experience is enough to go back and get your masters and be an NP? Most schools require at least a year of experience before entering an NP program, do you think that is enough or should a person be required to have 2 or 3 years before entering an NP program?

My school (Indiana State University) only required that you have one year of experience by the time clinicals begin. All schools will have differing opinions on experience before applying for graduate programs so you will need to contact your choice schools and check on their preferences.

Good luck!

I agree that it depends on the individual school you are applying to and also what you feel comfortable with. I have been an RN for 10 months now & I just started my first grad school class this past week. I feel like I have enough experience for it . There's just a lot of reading and work to do, but I am understanding all the material just fine. It's just really time-consuming. So I feel like it's up to the individual.
