Hi everyone,So I called DM today. Wanted to see if I could get any answer with regards the numbers of alternatives that are left. I didn't get in touch with her, but left a message. Lets see if she returns my call this week, if not I might also send her an email. It would be great if she can provide us with at least the number of alternatives that are left, that way we can have an idea of how many people we are going against.

Thanks for calling! If you guys don't want to wait a year, you should look into Creighton University. It's an accelerated program (1 year for a BSN). It's in Nebraska but they have openings for the Jan. 2014 class, no deadline, rolling basis.
I'd go to Nebraska in a heart beat if I didn't have two kids and a house

Hi everyone,
Sorry...for such a late reply!! I eventually was able to get a hold of DM through email and this is what she responded.
"There actually haven’t been that many that were accepted off of the alternate list. There are enough alternates to fill the entire class if needed. If there are any changes in your status I will let you know right away."
In my email I stated that I had heard that people from the alternative list had already been accepted, and that if it was possible for her to provide me the number of alternatives that were left. It looks like there are still plenty of students left. :-( I'm sorry... I guess this is not the answer we were hoping for.

I have to say one thing about Western. I lost a lot of respect for them during this whole process. To have 60 alternatives (a whole class) is ridiculous!! It gives so many people false hope. Best wishes to everyone!

Hi guys,
I just started reading through this thread today, so it's good to know that I'm not the only one worrying.
I'm also an alternate waiting to hear back going to start reapplying, but I'm sort of holding out for Western.
I'm sad to say I agree with you! With such a great program, you'd think they would be able to have a better process. It is really interesting that they say there is no ranking. From what I gathered, the faculty that comprises the admissions panel also work as nurses full time. I have an extremely hard time believing that they are able to all reconvene to decide who the next choice is if an alternate is chosen.
Has anyone taken advantage of the counseling process that they said we could do? Call and they will basically let you know why you were not selected?
At this point, I have little faith left in western. It shouldn't take a year to figure out if you have a spot. I'm holding my hopes for a spot at national university and trying the accelerated second bachelors program instead.

Has anyone heard anything or anyone getting accepted yet? :/
Nada, here!
I just heard back a few days ago, they offered me a seat.
Hey Ceci81, which area are you looking at to rent your place or are you from California? I am looking at apartments and it's all so expensive. I don't even know where to start.

Congrats Nerdy :) ! I'm going to be moving in to my mom's house in Rancho Cucamonga to save some $$. It's less than 15 min away from campus without traffic, but Claremont and Upland are closer and not quite as sketchy as Pomona. Have you joined the facebook group? There are some posts from classmates looking for roommates.
