Vanderbilt Pre-specialty Fall 2011

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi all!

I just wanted to get a thread started for those who plan on applying to Vanderbilt's prespecialty (for non-nurses) MSN program. I only recently discovered this program about 2 months ago and am absolutely enamored with it! I plan to apply to 8 schools for this cycle, but Vanderbilt is at the very top of my list. I am looking into FNP, which has the distance option. I am not sure whether or not I would prefer to stay at Vanderbilt for the whole program, but I do like that there is the option.

Aside from finishing up micro this summer and taking the GRE in a month, I am fully ready to apply. Just need the application for 2011 to open up!:lol2:

Anyone else?

For those of you who have applied, what other programs did you apply to? Vanderbilt is my first choice, but I would like to explore some other options for pre-specialty entry. Any suggestions?

I also applied to Yale and UCLA (but those apps were due on November 1), Ohio State, which is due Dec. 15 so you still have time, Mass Gen Hospital, due Jan 10, Northeastern, due early January, Case Western, which has rolling admissions through May, and I plan on applying to UI Chicago when the app opens in January.

I know Marquette University (which is in my hometown of Milwaukee), does a direct entry MSN for people with non-nursing degrees. Marquette is an excellent school, so you could check that out as well.

Thank you both for the suggestions! =)

I applied for the midwifery specialty, anyone else?

Hey guys!! I am a 1st yr prespecialty student at . If you don't get accepted for your 1st choice, you have to wait for the next yr to re-apply from my understanding. You are however, able to switch specialties through a lottery type situation in April or May of your prespecialty yr. It is based on availability and you have to develop a new essay, etc. Hope that helps, please let me know if you all have additional questions......good luck!!!!

Thanks for the info! I'd love to hear what you think of the program and school so far. How competitive do you think admission is?

MedVision-I sent you a PM, thanks for the help.....lemme know if you can't use PM and i'll post to the forum :)

HI! Does anyone know when we hear from them? Also, any information about students accepted last year (ie GPA, GRE, volunteer, etc)? Good luck to everyone!!!

is anyone else out there doing the PNP Primary Care specialty? If so, I have a question

I looked at my online application summary page the other day and it said that none of my transcripts had been received (eeeek!) so I e-mailed the CNM program coordinator and she said that they use an internal system to keep track of the transcripts, but they had all been received. Just wanted to let everyone know before they freaked out (like me!)

She also said that my application had been sent for review...ahhhhh! Now the waiting begins! :)

The waiting is KILLING ME!!! ARRRRGHHHHH!!!!
