UVM MEPN program for 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi guys -

I just got accepted for the MEPN program at the University of Vermont and I'm stoked. I'm not super good at using this site, but it looks like there might not be a forum for this year's program, so I wanted to start one. Anyone else out there?

Hi! I got into the MEPN program for next year and am trying to figure out loans. Is there an opportunity to work in the 2nd and 3rd years?

Although the first semester of the second year looks really intimidating (advanced everything!), it's only 12 credits and it's scheduled so that there are at least 2 free days. We're all hoping to work as RNs this fall!

Thanks so much for the info! Are you all thinking of working part-time? Is this pretty typical to do for the last 2.5 years in the program? It would be really nice to be able to start paying off those loans!

Hi can you tell me anything about the program, im really interested in applying. Do you NEED a car?

UVM has transitioned from a master's entry program to a direct entry doctoral program so there have been changes to the curriculum. Although I withdrew after starting the NP studies, I did complete the RN year - if you read my earlier posts in this thread you can find out a lot of info about my experience. I can't imagine they're changing much of that. For the RN year, if you live close enough to UVM, you don't need a car. But, once you start the NP portion of the program you will need reliable transportation because everyone goes their separate ways, and the clinical sites are all around the state.

I am trying to get into the UVM DEPN. I know that it looks too good a dream for me now but I want to give it the best shot.I live in Plattsburgh, NY and the program is close by.

I am international graduate and I was able to get my transcripts evaluated.I got 2 GPA scores(very confusing even for me).

I got 2.61(comprehensive) and 3.00(best result). The first score was because I got a bad score on 2 of my subjects(bad phase in life)

Should I consider UVM or just give it up?What if I did well on my pre-reqs and also did well on my GRE?

I know I'm quite late to the game, but I'm planning on working towards my nursing degree, and likely my NP as soon as is reasonable. I have primarily considered VTC, but the UVM program is attractive as it acknowledges the work I have already done (I have a B.S. and an M.Ed.)

Those who were accepted... any suggestions? I have a mental health, education, outdoor education background. I plan on trying for the LNA program soon to get my feet wet, build some credibility, and give myself a chance to make sure I'm making a decision that makes sense.

Ideas?
